Post Op Sweaty Betty!

LizzieBee

Loving being a loser!
Dear Fountains of Knowledge!

Over the last couple of days I have sweated after every drink, from cup o' soups to Actimels (all fat free or slim-a-soups).

Is this normal?

Sweating after eating/drinking is usually a sign of a mild dumping episode. You are newly post-op and may therefore be super sensitive to sugar, I felt like that for the first couple weeks when I had fruit juice but it went away. Take a look at the sugar content of your drinks and see if they are above 5g/100g serving. As long as you don't go over that number you should be okay. Also if you have more than just sweating (feeling faint, heart racing, nausea) you may want to check wiith your bariatric team.

HTH,
Nic;)

Thank you, Nic. I had wondered if it was mild dumping. I guess I thought that with sticking to the slim-a-soups I'd be okay. Shall be label checking like a demon. What's the fat/100g number I should be watching for?

Hi sweaty betty:DI've just had cauli cheese soup for tea, so sweating wont be my only problem:eek::eek:;):D
I think I read somewhere the fat thing is 5g per 100g too, but could be wrong:eek:

Oooo sounds delicious! Are the kids home? Lx

Lots of soup has a sugar content. Try cooking a potato the size of your fist, along with 2 carrots and half an onion - or any veg -cauliflour etc. in one knorr chicken (or veg.) stock cube. Liquidise and push through a sieve. Add parsley when you liquidise. You can add milk if you like. As you start having thicker food you can grate a little cheese on it. x x - and no sugar!

Fat is also 5g/100g to start with you can inch that up a little in a few months as tolerated, I keep mine under 10g/100g.

Hi Lizziebee, sorry I'm a bander so can't really advise you but yes to me it sounds like a bit of a dump!! Hope you feel better soon and take in what Nic and the other bypassers are saying as they know what they're on about.xx

Thanks Nic, appreciate your advice. I know Candie/Sally has found you to be a wonderful support.
