Question about diet after WLS?

Hi All,

I have been looking into WLS i went to my GP and asked for band and she is referring me to Weight Loss Specialist to see dieticain and for psychiatric assessment etc. At first i wanted band but not ruling out any other WLS depending on what happens with NHS.
If for some reason i dont get funding from NHS i will look into going private.

I was just wondering about the diets after WLS as i dont eat veg or salad and i see lots on peoples meal plans with meat and 3 veg and salads, would the WLS work for me if i dont like these things???

I may sound silly but i hate the crunch of it on my teeth, its not the taste of some things. I hate all salad and hate the taste of most veggies also  I can eat mushrooms, mushy peas and really soft sprouts (not too many tho) also a few really soft carrots and very finely chopped onions very soft.

Could i still do the after diet with the minimal veg i like?

Hi speaking from a bypassers point of view i'm sure as we can manage to eat so little you could get by on protein and the few veg you like. However i should imagine with a band you'd want to be eating more veg/salads to fill you up (especially before you get to the 'sweet' spot) but i don't know for sure. I'm sure one of our experienced people will be along shortly xx

I am a bypasser, can't see that being a problem.

You might find your taste changes anyway.

I just eat what I like to eat, in child size portions (obviously minus the crap I ate before).

Good luck

yeah i agree with julie, i have a tendency to get filled up just on the protein alone, as we're told to eat protein first, then veg, then carbs, but cos i get filled up so quick, i have a little bit of veg with my protein, but like julie said, the things you do eat, youd morre than likely be fine with.
and theres no saying that if you were to have a bypass you might just find that you do end up liking more veg and salad stuff, strange things happen to out bodies, dont they julie, lol
