really silly question but im not sure if you have op on day of admission or next day. i am going into st richards on july1st thanks:sign0163:

It varies from hosp to hosp...some admitted night before and have op next day ...or some are admitted in the morning and have the surgery same day..............all depends on procedure u having done and hosp policy WHICH I AM SURE YOUR HOSP WILL NOTIFY U ON WHAT WHEN THEY INTEND TO DO YOUR OP .

all the best - mejulie xx

Hi,
You have it on the day of addmission- but be warned, they tell you that you may be first down into surgery, but you could well be waiting all day- So take book/mags etc
I didnt go down to surgery till 8 pm.

Im having my op on 22nd June and my admission time is 7am and op will be on same day. This is the Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield. HTH xx

i went in at 4 and was walking up to surgery at half 5 all done by half 7 so every one is different they prob wont know how far up the list you are until the day!

make sure you ask on friday coz i wanna know too:eek: imagine getting there for 7am and havingto wait till 8pm :cry:with nothing to eat/drink now thats torture!

see you tomorrow deb x

i was done in st richards and went in on day of surgery and waited all day the first time then after sitting in a gown all day sent home as no theatre time left second time i went in i had op at about 11, take books etc although way ward set out i never picked mine up everyone was chatting to much! also take alot of change for tv the machin is not on the ward you have to go or ask your partner to get cards for it and the internet option on the tv is awfull so limited it not worth wasting credit on it x

ive added it to my list of questions if you think of anymore let me know.an yes that does sound like torture guess they checking our resolve lol . see you tomorrow x x:D

For st richards you go in on day of surgery. They will not tell you what time you will have op at the pre-op assessment - and even on the day itself the list can be changed at the last minute, so be prepared for a wait! On the morning I went in the nurse told me I was fourth on the list (after 3 rny's!) - so likely about 3pm, then Mr Somers came in and changed me to first! Mad dash, and within about 10 minutes I was in my gown walking down to theatre...
