That is such a long time! My surgeon likes his patients to have 2 weeks PO diet, and then 2 weeks liquid post op, then 2 weeks soft.

6 weeks for a milk diet. I thought the norm was 2-4 weeks?? Or is e1 different ??????

10 days here is normal julie depends on the surgeon and the bmi of the patient.

Good luck for your op Emma, you'll be fine and as for the chewing I kept a packet of sugar free chewing gum at my side at all times. Don't think I would hve coped without it lol, plus it helped with the horrible sour milk breath.

Have bought some gum, and it does appear to be helping, so cheers for that girls.

when I was doing the pre-op diet - mine was;

3 pints semi skimmed milk ( I had skimmed)
2 yoghurts
4 portions of fruit
1 low fat/low cal cup-a-soup

every day.. am aware each place is different.. but think being able to have the cup-a-soup and fruit made it more bearable..

just be careful the gum doesn't bloat you

not to sound stupid - but have you checked with dietician that you CANT have the cup-a-soups?

I found some in tesco - the light choices ones and wrote the cals down and fat/sugars etc and rung to check first, this was after 5 days on the milk and yoghurts and fruit..

worth asking because if you dont ask - you dont know.. plus you could ask about whether you could have a single portion of fruit a day?

<< like said - am aware everywhere is different but cant see any harm or why the differences.. make sure you check first though before 'adapting'..
