Very interesting post..there is a lot out there (on the internet) about 'medical tourists'...people who go abroad to obtain accessible and affordable health-care that they would otherwise be unable to receive as easily/quickly in the usual area they live in.
Although it is much cheaper, the disadvantages are:
aftercare can be lacking, and if you have complications, British surgeons may be reluctant to treat you because they do not know your clinical history...personally, I think I would prefer to stay UK side.....I like the idea of a long-term follow up care, that I clearly wouldn't be able to sustain on my own (hence being a fat c*w on/off for toooooo many years?)!!!!.
That said, I am sure there are some who have gone abroad and things have been fine!!!! It would be very interesting for someone to share their experience if they have been abroad for surgery?xxxx
