My PCT has told me I may have to wait a year for my WLS. I just want to blow off some steam with you all.

I am not specail, I know I will have to wait. In my case I am almost disable by a number of health conditions which are due to my weight.

Sarah I feel your pain and I understand exactly how you feel its like being given a prison sentance lets just hope we both get early parole....xx

i really feel for you sarah i have severe tendonitis in my achellies tendon due to an accident yrs ago and cant walk on it for more than ten mins i have to cycle everywhere it is agony and being in constant pain is very depressing , i really hope you get funding soon

Thank you ladies, sorry to post such a graphic post but I am feeling so low at the moment. I was so up beat at being put forward but now when I think of another year in constant pain it makes me feel depressed.

a year............its too long. I know someone from outside my ares who has been told they will get a date when they meet the consultant how do you think that makes me feel. It has taken me 7 years of doctors aid with the 3 the given medications and then 18 months of begging for an appointment with the obesity clinic in my town. Athough I have been recommended for surgery by a consultant I still have to get the funding and then the longggggggggg waittttt. I think I deserve my treatment the same as the next person but it seems that in the UK all is not fair.

Sorry to moan

Hi Sarah,
I'm just at the very beginning of this process so I don't know what awaits me in terms of delays and frustration but I feel your pain from your words. I pray you get your wls sooner than a year's time. I wonder though if this might be worth complaining to your MP about. There is no reason why systems should be user friendly in some pct's and not in other's.

i know exactly how u feel hun. i am just at the beginning of the whole process, and the thought that it might not be a years time til i finally get the op scares me. im so fed up. Keep pushing and be persistant, and hopefully it will pay off xxx

Hi PLUS

funny you should say that. I wrote to my MP who then wrote to the hospital instead of answering my question. I asked why such a difference in PCT in the UK. I regret writing.

You are right it isn't fair but thats how it is.

hi
i feel for you also.. stick with it and keep fighting i know its hard when you have run out of energy but show them you mean business and you will get there hun
takecare emma

Oh Sarah :hug99: I understand how you feel, my wait was over 18 months and I am disabled with 3 chronic pain causing conditions, so believe me I truly understand where you're coming from. I was at the stage where I just knew that if I didn't get granted funding I would do whatever it took to go private. Luckily it didn't come to that!

On a positive note, personally I have found that already the op has made a huge difference to my health. I've only had pain killers once since discharge, and I was on prescription ones daily beforehand.

I know the wait is hard, but sometimes there isn't anything we can do to change it. Take one step at a time, sort out the funding and then see where you are. You've got so many people here to let off steam to whenever you need to. If you want my mobile number just shout ;)

i had to wait just under a year from seeing gp to getting op in my area once you see the consultant it is a 5 mnth wait for everyone till op i wonder if they do this to make sure you really want surgery and are not going to back out

Hiya

I feel your pain . i had to wait over 2 years for my bypass. and it drove me crazy.

But what i will say is when they say they will fund you they put it off as long as possible for money reasons. but you feel you need it sooner write to them explaining the reasons and maybe getting your doctor to support you. This way you can get funding sooner.

Although you will still have to wait in turn once you have got the funding for the bypass people to see you etc.

But saying all this the year will go faster then you think. And go out asmuchg as possible and enjoy your food , because after the bypass etc you will never see food in the same light again and sometimes it does get annoying when you want to enjoy something.

But losing the weight is worth it all :D:D:D:D

But at least your on the way there and im pleased for you.

Writing to them wont hurt to try and get some thing sorted . but my guess is they will give you funding next april like they did me.

Good luck

Mark

Thank you all for your kind words. It really helps to know I have you all to help me alone.

I don't want to be too pushy with they powers that be in case the put a black mark against me.

I have the support of the cardiac unit of my local hospital so that might help.

many many thanks

Sarah remember everyone is different! WL18S comes from a completely different PCT to you, so there is no point comparing your situation to his. Even within the same PCT 2 people can have completely different processes, so the best thing you can do is set everyone else's stories aside and remember they are completely irrelevant to your story x x

Hi shel, thank you for your kind words of encouragement. Tomorrow I might have great news for you all.

Also in recent times the government want to address the obesity problem and more funding has been made available. We also have the so called "18 week rule" so who knows.

I will take your advise and sit tight.

Thanks again

Hi Sarah, i really feel for you. you are right you do deserve the op and you need to keep fighting for it. don't give up hope xx
