I'm trying to work put whether a firm or a soft pillow would be best for the journey home after op. It's over a hundred miles door to door so I would really like to get this one right.

Could those who have experienced this give your opinion please.

i had about 80 miles and took a fairly soft one but even then had to stop quite a few times as the pressure was quite bad but i did have bad muscle damage so hopefully you may be ok xxx which ever you decide to take don't forget it :)

Looks like I will be travelling alone on the train there and back for my op, I think I should cross pillow off my list as I think the bag will be bad enough to sort out on my way home on my own let alone a pillow as well. :(

well vicky the pillow is for protection from seat belt pressure but why are you coming back alone ? where are you having surgery :)

I had an invaluable pink beanie pillow to help in the car but also used it in the hospital too, infact I'm still using it :) x

You need a soft one you can hug to you and you shouldn't be travelling alone, its painful and exhausting plus you shouldn't be lifting or pulling any overnight bags my nurses wouldn't let me lift a thing xx
