hello
i was wondering if the tight feeling in my chest and under arms and back shoulders is normal 4 days after band, it doesnt seem to have gone since the op.

also what amounts should i be eating on day 4 ? i read the bospa site and it says as soon as you can take liquids freely you can go to pureed ?

Thanks

x

also my belly is making mad noises (has been for days) are they hunger or just alteration noises ?

Hi Helen

All sounds pretty normal hun. Everyone will have been advised what their team works with, I had to aim for around 200 mil portions of my liquids. I was on liquids for 2 weeks. An example of a liqud day for me to give you an idea would be:

Breakfast - slim fast shake

Snack - kids innocent smoothie

Lunch - soup

Snack - milkshake or fruit juice

Tea - soup

Lots of water and cups of tea throughout the day too. Moved onto sloppies after 2 weeks then real food 2 weeks after that.

Didnt they give you a diet sheet?

Maz x

Hi Helen the tight feeling in your chest back and shoulders will be gas pains the best way to get rid of this is to move about as sitting will just make it worse, take some gripe water or have pepper mint tea this will also help. Didnt you surgical team give you any advice about liquids to slop to solids transition, all teams are different but id say you need at least 2 weeks on liquids to allow your insides to heal and not to put the band at risk, the gurgling noises are normal as having a band makes us like a sink plug hole and we make similar noises to that as the liquids pass through.

The specialist nurse said she would bring me a diet sheet she never did, i emailed the surgeons secretary and she sais he will pass my message on she only deals with pre op diets.
all i was given was the same leaflet i was given pre op with the liver diet on and my meds.

I just dont want to be eating too much but i am starving then full !!!

i am now gonna have half a tin of tomaot soup - is that too much ?

lots of burps and trumps feeling much less windy today thank xxxx

Glad you're feeling better. I haven't even had the op yet and my tummy is making sounds like a sink draining! It's always done that - even when I was a skinny minnie. I remember sitting in class when I was about 13 and weighed about 7 stones, my music teacher asked me if I was trying to make a new musical instrument - it was so loud, she could hear it at the front of the classroom! Heaven knows what I'll be like post-op! The London Philarmonic Orchestra perhaps!:party0023:
