Two questions about burping.

After a bypass can you make yourself burp? And if so - how?

Sometimes I know I have some air trapped but try as I might I cannot make myself burp. Its not painful or anything, more irritating as pre op I just would have made myself burp.

Don't get me wrong, I actually burp a lot, especially after drinking but can only burp when it wants to come out.

I assume I haven't learnt how lift my diaphragm up high enough.

So how do you do it?

Ive never known how to burp - either before or post surgery but I do know exactly what you mean - I think you just have to let it come out naturally unfortunately! Peppermint tea was fabulous when I had wind - you could try that.

Sorry hun, I'm no help here. I have always been able to make myself burp, pre & post-op. Hubby thinks it is funny when I do it 'cause it is loud! I just make myself swallow air and out comes the burp.
