just had a nice chat to his secretary, I have moved up 12 places in the last month , (although she said that only 7 ops are being done in may ) so by my reconning an average of 10 ops a month, i should get my surgery in June 2012 !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Kate ,

Just wondering when you went on the waiting list? I went on in November 2010 but although I want to ring his secretary and get a rough idea I don't like to bother them lol

Thanks

Wendy

I went on the list in January , found out I was 177th on the list in February gave her a quick ring today with my new telephone number and she was quite chatty :) . Said there were now over 240 on the list and more waiting to go on it !!!

Glad we are on it already !

Hello Kate i have been on his waiting list since August could you let me have the secretary's number so i can see where i am thanks Mark

hi im also on the waiting list and ive been waiting since last year and i was told 2 years ,so i asked to go on a different waiting list for a new hospital with a shorter waiting list ,so im off to the st Richards in chichester in sussex my first app is the 13 may so fingers crossed ,since ive been waiting ive put on another 25 lb and had to go on blood preasure tabs .

It's amazing how different all of the PCT's are. I've been told we can't move PCT's for a shorter list (although I could to have my tonsils out) and that if I gain any weight at any point I'm off the programme with no 2nd chances.
I suppose I just look like I need a bit of tough love lol.
xx

Hi Mark , if you ring the switchboard number 01689 863 000 and ask to speak to mr El Hasani's secretary they will put you through , let me know how you get on .

Are you all at Kings College? Is it Pauline you speak to? I am at Kings but under Mr Patel, been on the waiting list since Feb 2011 - would love to hear some positive things about the waiting lists! Thanks x

Hi all

I went to see MR El Hassani around June last year and was told then his waiting list was two years, that why my GP sent another referral of to St Richards where I should be having my op at the end of this month. St Richards waiting list is only about 12weeks.

Hi , i was under the PRUH at Farnborough, I had my op done at Chelsfield on the 02.01.12, I was one of the lucky cherry picked to get the list down !!
Hope your waits aren't too long ;)

any advise????

hi

i've just been reading this thread in tears. i went on dr el hasanis waiting list on 15 december 2010. i phoned a few weeks ago to be told i was around 50th on the list but i'm going backwards, was around 40th previously. could anyone tell me how to get on the shorter list or how to speed things up. i think i'll be dead by the time i get a slot (seriously). i'm desparate for help please. (currently 400lb and increasing). thank you xxxx

Hi

Have you tried asking your GP to do another referal to one of the National Barriatric centres.

Thats what mine did when I was told the Waiting list was 2 years, I am now 5 days away from my surgery, if I stayed with MR EL Hassani I would still be two years away.

Ask your GP or their secretary if they could do another referal.

I am also in North Kent and got my second referal to St Richards in Chichester, when I went to see them last December they where working to a 12 week waiting list, and my Op is going to be bang on that 12 weeks.

You should get your op around May/June i would have thought, it will prob take you longer to get onto another waiting list or you may not get funding, i know its hard but you are nearly there.

Oh I really know how you feel, I went Mr El-Hasani's waiting list in March 2011. I called his sec last week and was advised there was 80 in front of me, when I called just after Christmas I was told I was 90th, so it looks like he has only done 10 in 6/7 weeks!! surely this can't be right!!

I don't get it

I really hope you hear soon hun

thank you for your replies. sadly i can't get to chichester so i'll just have to wait. when i've phoned to see where i am on the list i have actually gone backwards in 3 months ?(this can't be right). i'll wait as i know the op will help but its frustrating when you see people behind me on the same waiting list being put into private hospitals. not having a pop, just upset

It's probably correct, as he only does a couple a week for the NHS, I did read somewhere that that are moving some of his NHS Patients to a private hospital to get the numbers down.

Hi
I had my first appointment with Mr.El Hasani in October 2010 and had my bypass on 6/2/12. I was also due to have my surgery at the PRUH but got the call to ask if I would go in Chelsfield instead ( I wasn't about to say no!!).
I was given to understand that he was doing the cases that have BMI's of under 45 at Chelsfield as they are deemed easier. I know he is getting through a lot of extra cases at the moment in order to cut his waiting list down.
Di, I think you should ring his secretary and ask why you have moved backwards on the list as that seems really awful and unfair. No wonder you were reading this thread in tears , I would be distraught! I hope you get it sorted out lovely.

When I spoke to his sec I was told my name has been sent over to his private list, but there are still 80 in front of me (my BMI is 49)
