When my endcrinologist referred me to weight management clinic that was back in april and saw them 3 weeks ago. He wont give u the date , they will only refer you to surgeon (that what I been told and happened to me) and all depending on your pct, you may have to attend weight management clinic as well, most require 6-12 months stay with them, and if you have to have other tests, like sleep apnea, see a pshychiatrist as well, and only then will you be refered to a surgeon . e1 on here will have a different story etc can only tell you mine from me :D takes roughly from referal to a op on str8 forward cases about 1 year.

all the best - MeJulie x x

:welcome: kpnuts. Mmm, that's a yummy username you've picked.

Sorry I can't answer your question. However, if you tell us where you are; your PCT and possibly the hospital where you'll get your surgery then someone might be able to give a general idea if they've gone through the same place.

hi i.m in stoke on trent, i'll be goin to the north staffs for my op, PCT is packmoor primary care trust, i went to see the surgeon in may i,ve ad a few blood tests dun and then got this appontment next week, i was hopin that it was gettin close to them giving me a date..:(

Count on 12 months and anything less will be a bonus!I have been at it for 14 months, since gp referal July last year!

yea i was told at least 12 ta 18 mnth it just seems such a long time, when ya really want it so much it feels like for eva....

i dont know meself just add the appointment and i,ve had some blood tests taken 2 wks b4 i go to see him dont even know what they were for..

Think I have been really lucky - got referred for funding in March/April and surgery date in October. I also have only seen a surgen so different places must do different things

Am seeing one for hormonal trouble. not sure if they see ppl for anything else xx
Endocrinolgy is the study and treatment of the hormonal system and disorders arising from it. Diseases of the "glands" for want of a better word :) can range from things like Diabetes to Thyroid Disorders to sexual problems and even some Osteoarthritis! . A lot of endocrine disorders can result in weight issues so endocrinolgists are a crucial part of a bariatric team.

I have seen a number of endocrinologists over the years because of my weight and diabetes. (The only one I have ever liked is the last one at Kings but that is probably because he has been really instrumental in getting me WLS :D Lovely man that he is :D:D)

love

I'm in Stoke on Trent and I am seeing the endo on the 30th of this month.

I saw the doctor in June
Saw the surgical consult and blood tests 17th July
Saw the dieticion on the 25th of either July/august
Have my appointment with the Surgeon on the 19th of Oct.

Has your process differed much from mine? I still don't even know where I am in the process really :(

i was referred in apirl, i saw the surgeon in may n they took some blood then, i had another blood test in july, and some more last week ready too see the endo nxt wk but thats as far as i,ve got i,ve had no other appointments as yet. i,m uner Mr Cheruvu...

I'm under him too, I wonder why our process is so different? Coz as I say I've not seen the surgeon yet, but had loads of other apts, and it seems like you've seen the surgeon but not done the other stuff i've done lol

Is it a reasonably new thing at North Staffs then? The reason I ask is because many of us that come under North Staffs have had to go to Walsall Manor. Staffs would have been so much easier for me.

With regards to your apointments it may be best to ring them and ask, as different hospitals seem to have different systems and some patients find that even within the same hospital its not the same for tow patients. Its all very much in the air at the moment as its such a new thing for most hospitals.

Yeah, I don't believe they've been doing it at North Staffs for very long at all. The surgeon has also been on holiday for 2 months so I've had lots of extra waiting time.

I wish everywhere had the same things lol

its all very mixed up, i,m really confused with it all, i would just like ta know how long it will be so i,ve got somethin too loook forward to....

i dont really know what goin on, i just keep waitin for letters ta drop on the mat hopin one day there will be a date for the op.... last time i rang and spoke to the sergeons secretary back in july she said i was 24th on the list n to expect at least 18mth wait. that really knocked the stuffin out of me because i thought i,d be dun quicker than tha...

Hi Kp please dont wait for a letter,it will be ages yet for your op.If the secretary says 18months she knows what she is talking about. But some people will drop out or be at the top of the list and fail to get funding. You could phone her and say you would be willing to take a cancellation but everyone is willing to do that.It really is a waiting game and unless you have the funds to go private its what you will have to do.Dont be down though there are so many things you have to do to make yourself tip top for surgery, research all you can and stick with us for support. Is there a support group near you? They usually meet once a month.Maz x

Hello kpnuts, how r u???
You will get there I promise, the waiting is the hardest part, sooo frustrating!!!! I know I didn't av to wait too long as I went private but, the little bit of waitin I did do was bad enough so hate to think what it's like for you!!!

Mr Cheruvu is alright, he can take the tough love approach at times but I think that's what we need sometimes (I know I certainly do).
I am seeing him again on Monday night at 6pm for another band fill.

Keep us all informed of your progress, good luck and see you around!!!
