Hi all, first time I've posted as only been able to read ur stories up till now...

Been over a year since my seminar at Sunderland, and on surgery list now for gastric bypass, been a lot of delays and having to chase up letters and appointments, I'm not much of a talker but hope too get help and views as I go through this process.

Pre seminar weight 19st 2lb

Pre surgery weight. 17st 8lb

Hope to get to know some of you better now

I went back to work this week :) it's exactly six weeks today since my op I have to be honest I wondered what the hell I had done for the first three weeks but deffo on the up now and I don't regret op anymore
It'll be no time at all and you will join the rest of us bypassers on the losers bench Xx

Its been 4 weeks since pre op, going to ring secretary on Friday if I haven't heard anything, it's all I can think about lol

It seems that the chasing up letters, referrals and phoning secretaries is an essential part of this process! Hope you get somewhere and find out more info about your date.

Hi Lynette,
I had my by pass at Sunderland in June last year, it took 2 1/2 years to get there but it was the best thing i ever done.
Once i was on the waiting list i got my surgery date within a few days, it wasn't convenient for me as i was going to be on holiday at the time so i rang up and got another date for the next week.
I was told at the time that there was only a weeks wait for surgery bookings, it might have changed by now though.
I would ring and find out whats happening.....good luck xxxx

Ohhhh.....just for information i had 3 months off work afterwards, then went back on a phased return only doing a couple of little shifts for the first few weeks xxx

I must've just been lucky I went from seminar to op in 8 months and I never had to chase a single appointment or letter everything ran soo smoothly X

Hi lynette

I am going for my endoscopy at sunderland on 16th march. It has taken me since june last year to get another appointment. They forgot to refer me back to the mdt twice after I had seen the diabetic specialist in june last year. But back on track now. I to am not much of a talker. I hope you get your op date when you phone tomorrow xx

I know carol, you wait weeks for an apt, then ring up and find nothing has been done, or waiting for non existent letter, been like this for six months, I'm under mr Mahwar, you?

Lynette.

I don't know who I am under to be honest. I saw mr balipuri then mr schroder referred me to the diabetic doctor and I saw mr carr last week. So I dont really know but my most recent lettter says mr Jennings is the consultant who is responsible for my case. So I guess I am under mr Jennings lol

Yeah! well done you! That was one phonecall worth making!

I had my endoscopy in October Carol, but had to wait for sleep apnea test, then apt for results, then surgeon again, then chasing up letters lol X. Had pre op same day I saw surgeon, 4 weeks ago.

Thanks. I dont have sleep apneoa. So thats one appointment I wont have to attend. Its just mr Carr said I would get the op within 10 to 12 weeks of the endoscopy if everything was ok that is. And I am sure he said I would get my nxt appointment while I was there. But maybe I mis heard.

But then again everyone is different
