If you are told the waiting list is for example 18 weeks should you op be done within 18 weeks or is that just an estimate ?

I was told 18 weeks from getting a yes from the pannel to having the op done, but every hospital is different maybe speaking to somone who has had it done at the hospital your under may give you a better idea x

18 weeks is just an example some people at the same hospital are being told 17 weeks, some 18 weeks, some 19 weeks, and some 20 weeks
(so its not the 18 week rule I'm asking about)
What I want to know is that if you are told in writing that the waiting time is 17(18,19,20) weeks does your op have to be within the quoted 17(18,19,20) weeks

At my final Consultation I was told I would have about a 3 month wait for the surgery, it was actually a six month wait. in total from the first appointment, it was almost a 2 year process.

I got my funding in January and was told at that time that the waiting list was 20 weeks which should have seen me get my surgery by end of May. I didnt have my 2nd pre-op until 16th June so at the earliest I would have been looking at a 24/25 week wait. I ended up asking them to move me back though to accomodate work commitments.

Yes we have all be told that lie
every one who had their first consultation at Walsall Manor the same time as me (June, July and August) were all told christmas or early new year for our ops. We are all being done from May onwards.
So less than 12 months not bad really, but I wish there was some consistency to WLS

I have a graph thing I dont no where I got it from but it says that when you go on the waiting list it is from the date of the panel meeting, but how the hell are we to no when that was, but I was told 19 weeks from the 21 dec which takes me to around 4/5 may but I was told Im looking at June for my op, Helen Mellons has her pre-ops on 8th and 9th Feb so we will see what op date she gets

Problem is I've got to book an exam for June and my bestest mate is getting married on 29th May so don't know if I can do either

Hi i only waited 6 weeks from funding to having the op. But its different from one town to the next

Wendy you ccould always give Tracy a call and see whats what as they seem to tell everyone something different, but if it is a important exam you have to book just go ahead and book it as long as you tell them, On my letter for the 1st pre-op it did ask me to ring with any dates that I couldnt make.

When i was put on the waiting list I was given a form to complete and I had to list any dates that I could not attend. My letter said I would only have to wait 18 weeks for the surgery but they are currently running at around 22 weeks. To be honest I don't mind how long as long I wait, I am just glad that I am getting my operation.

Panic ye not little friend! First off ring the number on the letter and say you have a wedding and exam.

If the gas man can offer you early May then you can still make the wedding. As for the exam is it a sit down job or have you been training to be the aerobics instructor that is lurking underneath that shy shell of a you? If its one you'll take sitting down (say nothing cheeky face!) then you can still go for it in June. Otherwise you have your op after both of the events and i have an earlier date SORTED LOL xxx
