Waiting time

Laura b

2011 a new begginning
Ok thought ild ask for a bit of advice, cut a long story short well as short as it can b seen dr august, got refered for Wls first appointment October, second appointment November where they agreed for bypass, got told as long as funding was agreed ild have op jan-march, funding approved December 7th, called hospital jan got told i should deffo get a march date, ain't heard so foned again they said it b April now, well called this week to see if April dates have been released and they have but not given out yet, she said she has up to may dates and if iv got one I'll hear in the nxt couple if days, I don't think I will hear she said if I dint it means I'll have to wait a few more months, but if I don't I'll b so pee'd off that I thought of complaining... So my question is would you if it was you?? I know ppl wait yrs and if at the start they said ur looking on a wait of 6-12 months then I wouldn't be so pee'd of by not having a date yet but because I keep getting told a certain month then not getting it I'm getting well stressed, I'm under mr kumar, Birmingham heartlands hospital ild b greatful for ur feed back of wat u think??

hi laura
well girl as by now you know its a waiting game and Mr Kumar is a cancer specialist surgeon and those opps take priority and rightly so, he has a full workload of wls to perform also and so is very busy , i know thats of little comfort rite now but its a waiting game and not nice i no, my advice would be ring once aweek and keep asking if there is a date for your opp yet and if any have been released as you are doing ask were you are on the list

just play it by ear its a tough one weather to complain as its only been afew months and rocking the boat could leave u further down the list , not saying it will but could
i no a girl who went the very same day as me for the first time to see Mr Kumar and was told the same day as me she would have the opp and is still waiting and thats from April 2010 so just hang in there girl don't lose your cool wen ringing for a date is my advice,
just remember it will be so worth the wait believe me
good luck
Steve xx

Personally Laura i'd do as Steve says and ring every week, try and build a rapport up with the lady who does that...

As for complaining, without being rude hun you've not been waiting very long and there are others out there who may have urgent medical needs that makes their surgery more pressing......

Try and be patient a little longer x

Hi thanks both, I know I ain't been waiting too ling but it feels they keep telling me one thing then changing wat they have said :-( I am feeling fed up and I know there's ppl out there that have been waiting longer than me and I feel for them I really do, I don't want to complain as I work for the nhs and I feel very lucky to b having this op I'm very grateful to the nhs I'm just feeling really down, and it's not like me to feel like this, thanks both for the advice I think I will follow wat uv said and ring every week xxxxxx

Thanks Kevin, I'm sure he does do private ops at the spire so I might enquire x
