Hi ya Tinks

What did you have? Band or Bypass?

Love Gina!xxxx

Hi tinks, I didnt start on any sloppy food till nearly three and half weeks post bypass, when i did start eating I enjoyed mashed potatoes with fish in parsley sauce and some mushy peas, all mushed up it was yummy!!!! can also make a corned beef ash but some people can dump with the fat content of the corned beef! x

i use lean corned beef and seem fine on that. nice in an ommlette :)

 Oh my God you lot are seriously strange, i thought my diet was strange, but scrambled egg with dairy lea, corned beef omellete and and mushy peas

any which way to get my protein in Richard!

i have had the Gastric bypass by Mr Amorri, i cant tolerate the pureed foods it makes me feel sick to look at it !!!. Will try the corned beef as i know a recipe use cottage chesse with it... any other ideas ???

I had tried Quorn by the third week, but it was too much and made me dump/got stuck.

So, I went back to soups, very mushy mash (try and say that after a glass or two?!! :p) and Ryvita with h'mous and Dairylea light.

What does your Dietician rec'? Did they give you a diet sheet? I remember that my D'tician said that if I was feeling peckish then I should move onto the next stage, i.e. from slop to semi-solids, as liquids/soup passes through the pouch much faster than solids or semi-solids, hence that satisfied feeling isn't lasting as long as it could.

Hope you're finding things to eat and you're feeling ok...

x

just tried some low fat custard and 1/4 mashed bannana, but felt like someone had sapped all my energy my work mate said god youv'e gone very pale.... is this dumping ... soz i know i'm a pain asking so many questions ..

Firstly, don't apologise... we're all here to help each other and offer advice, so keep on asking!

Right... dumping can manifest itself in different ways. The most common are sickness, diarrhoea, sometimes vomiting and also feeling very drained, dizzy and generally not very well. It's akin to the feeling you get when you suffer and attack of hyperglycaemia - too much sugar straight into the intestines and they go haywire!!!

I had a little 60g choccie dessert that was less than 70cals last night, and I felt a bit quesy and thought I was going to have to go to the bathroom, but it passed after 30mins - I consider this to be dumping, as well.

Some things are not tolerated by the new pouch and intestines, and it really is a case of trial and error - we're all different and somethings are better than others, but it isn't always the same for everyone.

I haven't gone near custard as I dumped on a cup a soup in my second week and have been careful ever since!!! :D

However, I have been able to have NAS Angel Delight :)

Maybe it was too much, too soon...? You might be ok with it in another month. Try it again then :)

have you thought about making a really nice veg soup but using chicken stock as the base, leek and potatoe soup with no bits made this way is lovely, I also do a pea and ham soup, I use yellow lentils and red lentils to make it and add a bit of curry powder to give it a kick!
I know you can buy them ready made, but this way you know what you are putting in them so theres no hidded fats!

It shouldn't... but if you are having probs with swallowing tabs and capsules, they can prescribe SF liquid ABs for you :)

I know that they can affect contraceptive pill if you take that, other wise I have had no need to take any up to press, are you on them at the minute?

I was on amoxcillin recently for a throat infection and had an allergic reaction to it for the first time ever, not sure if that's related to the bypass or not.
