......... and how often?

I started my walking again yesterday, I went for a 2 mile walk last night, I was wrecked when I got back

I cant wait to start back to the gym again, I alsolutely love Body Pump but was told I have to wait 3 months before lifting weights again so that means I have to wait til October :sigh:

What exercises are you doing and do you enjoy it?

I do this exercise every day:

Hand to mouth, hand to mouth, hand to mouth.

It's not very effective though....lol.

(((hugs)))

I know what you mean...I actually love walking and can't really do it at the moment because of my back.

I have a fantastic elliptical trainer that my husband bought for me early last year, can't wait to start using it again.

(((hugs)))

I Can't do any at the moment because of this damn wound which is driving me mad. At this stage I should be at least swimming.. Arrrrghhh

Walking, at least 30 mins a day. (did nearly two hours yesterday)
Cycling.
Dancing.
Aerobics.
Weights.

Do I enjoy it, not always but it gives me a massive sense of achievement.

60 mins (4 miles) of walking and jogging each evening. Got the jogging up to a mile now.
Wii Fit most days.
Weights and toning.

I don't know why you were told 3 months. I was at the gym less than a week after op. I was told it was fine as long as I took it easy to start with. I was fine after a couple of weeks.

i do 45 wii fit a day and 20 mins of another wii exersise game and i walk at least 30 mins a day. for first time yesterday i ran up a huge flight of stairs and could actually talk normally when i got to top silly thing to be excited about but i was this time last year i had to go everywhere on a push bike because i couldnt walk

I boxed for years and then progressed to kick boxing so was utterly addicted to cardio exercise. Then I had my big bike crash which put me on my a**e for a couple of years and now I have arthritic hips..hindered by the weight. So..I walk my dogs and use the stairs at work wherever possible - obviously there are some days when I can barely walk ( and some not at all!)

Hubby is buying me a Wii fit for after the op, I have bought a brand new X-trainer which I will start using once we move (the week after my op) and I aim to be back doing cardio within 6 months (although no throwing around of the legs / hips malarkey)!!

I still have shoulders and arms like a russian shot putter and I am hoping to tone them back up. Riding big bikes for nearly 30 years has added to my upper body strength and I got a new thou a few weeks back and have been riding that around since! :D:D:D

Hi

I was told 6 weeks for any exercise that stretches the stomach muscles (what muscles lol).

Walking is an excellent way to get you back into fitness. I love body pump too but even 11 weeks post op I think I would struggle with some of the lifting - would worry about pulling something.

At the moment apart from dog walking at the gym I do 3 a week 6.5 km's uphill power walks on the treadmill. Also I try to go to as many spinning classes as poss - I work away alot though so sometimes only manage 1.

Maz x

I try and swim a couple of times a week and I know that you are supposed to enjoy exercise and that the endorphins kick in and make it fun - that bit bypasses me. Its a mental effort and I dont enjoy it and I have to make myself go and its too easy to find an excuse not to. If anyone has any tips for making my head enjoy exercise, bring it on!

I do the gym every other day, and do 1 hour at least at each session. I do the treadmill, cross-trainer, exercise bike, and stepper. I was doing toning but got tennis elbow, which not only affects doing weights etc, but also has stopped me walking the dog :chores016:. I was walking the dog when I got the tennis elbow injury he is a strong puller and twisted my arm (huskies will do that to you).
I also do long walks once a month or so, between 5-9 miles.
MNL:rolleyes:

I run 2 miles every evening and cycle an 8 mile route on Saturdays, Sundays are normally reserved for either sailing, walking or swimming which is normally a family activity.

At the minute the only exercise I get is when out with the horse. Its enough for me though walking at his pace because by the time we get back I feel like I've done a full workout at the gym. I do this twice daily so I'm finding it quite enough for now lol
