I wouldnt know what you look like lol . However when i went there was hardly anyone there then when we came out the waiting are was full of people. Seminar was good was only me! so was able to ask a few more questions. plus i got to chose what i wanted due to my health probs. Just got to see surgeon and be put on waiting list they say IT MAYBE Oct .Let me know how you get on hun? x

Yer I cant upload a picture just yet, my appointment was at 2:30 today although I was there wondering about from about 2. Yes I was in the diabetic centre for my appointment aswell. My seminar was on the 2nd June, so it's all gone really quickly, I was expecting for his appointment to be in July, it went pretty well. The surgeon was really nice and talked through everything. He said the waiting list is between 4 to 4 n a half months long, but it can be earlier if there are cancelations etc. I mentioned my trip away in September and was waiting for him to say I couldn't go if it clashed with my op date, and he told me he could work around it, which was a major relief . he said they had a room funded in a private hospital, I'm sorry I missed what hospital he said, it began with a p though... He said it's for low risk patients that have no other illnesses, And that I could possibly have the operation earlier, but would mean losing 8kg in the next 4 weeks to bring my bmi to the qualifying level then having the op in July!!! Which would mean I would be healed by sept then I could still go away, or he could work it so I have the operation in October when I'm back. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do yet, as I had guesstimated with work that it would be near the end of the year and whilst they have been very accommodating with all appointments I've had, they have asked other members of my team at work to try and work there holidays around then so they are In work whilst I'm off, my team have been understanding and have done that not all at a detriment to them as some of them would have preferred to have July/August off rather than October. They won't expect people to change there holidays again at such short notice, but would mean I would leave skeleton staff at work. Anyway, I have until the end of the week to decide, I'm going to speak to work to see if they can help me with my choice, I'm edging toward the October date. Either way I'm officially on the waiting list eeeeek Which operation did you go for in the end? What did you think of the seminar?

WOw I was there for 1pm for my appointment. I came out around 2.20ish. We must have passed one another !! Your work has been very surportive i suppose you will make the ultimate decision . So the surgeon will work around a date?? I did say to the dietitian yesterday that i couldnt be off for Christmas and just before as I do my staff christmas rota and do hope it will be around Oct i have a week at end of oct for my birthday so that would fit in nicely. I pray its no later earlier would be better but I cant see it and if they are saying Oct to you and your more advance looks like Nov doesnt it! WHo was the surgeon you saw?? The seminar was very imformative and she said when they discussed me at the MDT they said i could choose what surgery i wanted out the three . I chose the rny bypass what are you having?? My partner asked a lot of questions too and he was able to understand it all as he was totally against it but understands my reasons and it all now. Well done for getting on the list keep me imformed hope i get a date with Mr surgeon soon. what sort of things did he discuss with you??? x

The surgeon seemed to be coming up with ideas to get around the date, when he said sept/Oct to me I think he was referring to middle to end of September or start of October, from the sounds of your only 2 weeks behind me in the process, so yours still could be in October and I'm sure if you explain about work he will try and work around it. We may even be having it at the same time as he said he would delay mine until after I'm back in the country which would be the start October. I've gone for the gastric bypass aswell.

Off the top of my head I can't remember the surgeons name, and haven't got my paper work on me to check, I will let you know when I can.

When you go to the appointment you see the nurse first who takes height, weight and blood pressure first. The surgeon discussed, the slim course how I found it, what sorts of foods I ate, if I've made changes to my diet, my medical history, how long I've been overweight for , is this the most I've lost doing the slim course, why I want the operation, how it would benefit me. Those where the basics he asked me. He also had a look at my stomach and my back, I guess seeing how easy would be to do the op.

My work have been very supportive so far, that is until I mentioned I might have dates, my manager has said he can't allow me time for appointments anymore, that I will have to change my day off to cover the appointments or make the time up, bit confusing at the moment because no one else out of the 60+ people in my office has to do that, and his let me attend appointments for past 8 months without that. Not sure what's going on in his head but feeling abit picked on , I'm one of those people who reads all sorts of policy's so I know he can't really say that to me if other people are being treated differently so the question is more towards why he thinks I should be treated differently to everyone else?! Anyway, that's a different issue which I know I can sort.

I'm really chuffed your at this stage now , I would say give it two weeks and you will have your appointment with the surgeon, he also asks if there was a cancelation would you be able to have it earlier, so you if there is there may be a possibility of it being earlier for you xx

This may not happen to you Hun....the fact that Princess has pointed out their failing means that they can be checked on and avoided. If you have any doubts at all or worries contact your specialist nurse straight away and ask about the post op support. Tell them why you are anxious and they will sort it out for you.

Princess how you feel you have been let down can be sorted as the hospital will have procedures in place for complaints and how to deal with the problems caused by them. X x
