Hi I`m new and worried

Katkit1

Not going anywhere!
:wave_cry: Hi to everyone; you all seem a lively crowd on here. Went for my consultation yesterday at Dolan Park Hospital; and am pencilled in for October 12th for a gastric band. I have been needing help for many years with my weight and other health issues. Now it looks like it could be happening and I`m a little bit scared. Is this normal?

Good Luck to everyone going through similar experiences, I`m sure I`m not the only one worried by it all.

Thanks for listening to me. Kat:eek:

I've not had my op yet & waiting for a bypass. But just wanted to say hello & welcome.

I know that personally, I'm sooo excited for my op I want to scream BUT, I still occasionally think OMG what are you doing. I think its only natural.

Good luck & take care

Hi Kat and :welcome2: to WLS .....it is quite normal to feel scared. I think everyone here pre and post op have felt scared at least once or twice :D x

HI Kat and a big welcome to you.

:welcome2::welcome2::welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:

Yes, it's completely normal to feel nervous. It comes and goes...and comes!

Stick around and you'll get loads of support, info, tips and advice...and a few laughs too!

Your sis in law is right, so many of us on here dontknow what we would have done without this forum.....it is invaluable to have people who are in the same boat as you, they have felt like you feel and walked amile in your shoes. You will learn so much from speaking to others who are pre and post op and you will also help others with your journey :D x

Of course you will & just remember no question is a silly/stupid question.

Loads people have asked questions & I have thought 'oooh, that's good to know'!!

The people on here are great so ask away & you'll get loads of advice, support etc.

hi kat, and welcome.
you wouldnt be normal if you werent nervous and scared, wls is a big step to take, and not one that any of us take lightly. but as im sure everybody on here who have had it done, will tell you, its the best thing they ever did. it gives us our lives back. but no way is it the 'easy option' that some people think it is.

Hi Kit, welcome to the forum, you will find everyone lovely and helpful on here, you can ask anything you like and its never "a silly question" . good luck on your weightloss surgery hun

jayne x

Hi Katkit, first off i want to welcome you to probably the most informative wls site on the net.

It's obvious to me that you have thought through going for surgery very long and hard, if you hadn't you wouldn't be nervous or worried. The best advice i can give to you is this; use this site for all the information you could ever need and then some more; ask all the questions you need to however 'trivial' or 'silly' you think they are because if you need to ask the question then it is important!

Finally, never ever think you are on your own, we are one big extended family who will rejoice in your losses but also be there when you struggle. It's not an easy journey and having a gastric band takes a whole lot of willpower but i'm sure you will succeed and look forward to watching your progress xxx

Hi Kat, Welcome to the site, you've come to the best place for help and support.

I don't know where Dolan Park is, you will probably get some better help if you fill in your details as much as possible so others can help you. You can get back to the details by clicking on UserCP in the green bar at the top of the screen. You can go back there whenever you like to update your info whenever you like.

A first appointment for most providers is a group seminar with a large group of potential patients, so be prepared for that with lots of questions. If you can take someone with you then do so, there is lots to take in and you may not remember it all on your own.

Good luck with your journey.

I think you may have to post more before being allowed to fill in the info...........50 posts maybe, unless things have changed since I joined!!

Feel free to ask any questions!! I originally wanted the band but soon realised that the band wouldn't have suited me at all!! That was thanks to the lovely people on this website!!! I had my op 6 months ago and have lost about 90 pounds. Best decision I ever made!!!

Good luck in your decision!!!

Hello, Im Andrea I saw your post, i hope you dont mind me replying to you. Im new on here so hope you get this message. Im on the waiting list for gastric bypass myself. I have my pre op in September. I think what you are feeling is to be expected so try not to worry to much. I cant wait for the op, infact its taken over my life this year because I think of nothing else. Please dont worry. Could you let me know if you receive this so I know that im on the right track x sugga

Marie.

Hi Andrea thanks for looking in and welcome to the site also; we can be new girls starting our journey together!
I must say you sound really positive about it and seem to be taking it in your stride. Perhaps I`m worrying for nothing, but me and hospitals are not the best bedfriends!
Anyway Good Luck to you Andrea and I will watch your progress with interest, we will be like butterflies emerging from their chrysalis - that sounded almost poetic
