Would You Go Abroad By Yourself

My first band was done in Belgian through a UK company. It was placed in the wrong place and the aftercare nurse mismanaged me. It had to be redone so I ended up spending about £4000 more than if I had had it done in the UK in the first place. There are some good deals at home if you shop around.

flying and going on holiday with gastric band

My band always tightens on long flights but I think it's best to not be too tight in the first place and keep drinking water to make it easier. Have a lovely time in Egypt.

    first fill

The first fill makes a difference. Most people appear to need a few. I do believe the rules that skipping meals are correct as you get hungry and eat rubbish later. Look at the eating instructions that you were given as I'm sure they don't mention pasties ;-) Once you've had enough fill you...

Why do people try and jeopardise their operations?

Private surgery isn't just rich people. Ordinary people can often manage it they really rethink their budgets. I borrowed, borrowed and borrowed to fund my ops. I also prioritised and went without things that many consider essentials. No Sky TV, cigarettes or pub. Funding the op is so hard but...

    Taking 'the easy way out'

I haven't found it easy but it was the only thing that worked for me once it was sorted out. I think a lot of pre ops think it will be easy. Look at the people upset that they don't lose loads after one fill.
