I've flown with a filled band several times including long haul 10+ hours to/from the USA. My fill would have been 7ml in a 10ml band last time - no probs. I was able to eat a small amount and drink too. My dietician was confident I could travel without the need for a defill but best to get...
Nooooo!!! Don't break your pre-op diet as you might risk not being able to have the operation. You've been shrinking your liver so the op will be safe - even one meal can blow that. It's not worth it!
I love threads like this!
I'm like others on here, knowing I should have done something years ago but not actually taking the plunge until 16 months ago. I had become fed up entirely and the weight loss of my best friend through bypass surgery told me it was time to do something. I was...
Hi I had my band op at Dolan Park - someone called me to let me know when I should be there. It was an early checkin from what I remember - 8am I think. I only live two hours from there but stayed overnight in a local hotel. Found it helped to manage the stress knowing I'd only have a few miles...
I find I struggle with some bread types and particularly pizza dough. It must swell up or something! My bread consumption has dropped dramatically in the last 10 months with no particular effort - my body just tells me "no" (which I am still finding ironic after all the years it said "yes")!
Hi! I've flown to the USA twice in the past six months (10 hours+ flights) and have been absolutely fine with my band. I didn't have any fluid taken out and I was on 7.5 mls at the time. Each flight has been different - I've eaten on a couple of the legs and also drunk a glass of vino. i felt ok...
It's worth spending the money, particularly if you're going somewhere like the USA. You wouldn't want to get caught without insurance over there - scary amounts of money involved. I had a 4 day stay in hospital over there in 2003. Total cost £20,000. Insurance paid out thank goodness.
Hi
I took a week off work and was back at my desk 7 days after the op. I was driving again after 5 days but didn't lift anything for 2 weeks following my provider's guidance (plus you're not insured to drive if you ignore doctor's rules). I have a pretty sedentary job so it can be done but I...
I was with THG - i had the option of 4 surgeons from what I remember but date wise it all worked out best with Alan Li. My surgery was v straightforward - I had 4mls put in on the day and I'm now at 7ml after two fills. I have lost about 2.5 stone since I started pre-op at end of May. Very...
I was banded by Mr Li. Only saw him at the time of my procedure but I have been very happy throughout. Let me know if you'd like me to answer specific questions.
That's brilliant - I've got two rescue cats as well and I know exactly what you mean! I'm sure they will have their paws under the table before you know it!
Hi Bella
If it helps I am having a similar experience in terms of restriction. My first full took me up to 6ml and I've not really felt much of a difference. Both hubby and I agree that I am eating a lot less but it's def not v small portions. I have my 2nd fill on Monday with THG and I am...
