advice on doctors app pls

hello lovely people. Well i have my doctors app booked but i want to make sure i know what i am going to say. Do i go in and ask to be referred to consultant or would it be a weight clinic? Jus want to get it all right so he doesn t send me away with no referral. Thank you.

I just said to my GP that I wanted to be referred for a gastric bypass. I was turned down at first but went away and drafted a letter to her outlining all the reasons I want a bypass and how my weight affected my every day life. She then wrote a letter to the hospital for me.....good Luck XX

i worry because my bmi is 35.5 and know its supposed to be 40 but i do have degenerative disc disease which my weight certainly doesn t help. Maybe my bmi isnt high enough? X

Im not sure tbh, if you look on the BOSPA website you might be able to find what the conditions are for your area re: BMI and co-morbidities. It does seem a bit low but having the disc disease might make all the difference XX

dani plz dont lose heart iv checked the nice critiria in birmingham and if u have a bmi of 35/40 with a co-morbidities which im sure ur back is u cud still get funding were in birmingham do u live xx

hello Charmaine I live in quinton. where abouts are you. My doctors is of the mind you cut the calories and exercise and its that simple. If only my brain worked that way. this is one of my worries with sugery that I will still have the urge to eat my emotions and wont be able to. thanks for your reply. good to chat.

im in sheldon hun but my docs is in hall green so im under south birmingham pct i think u might b the same. if ur doc isnt much help speak 2 the specialist who deals wiv ur back cuz he can give u the referal 4 surgery aswell. wiv ur bmi its likley ud get funding for a band not a bypass but its worth a try hun xx

Hi hun I dont have the usual comorbidities but your doc can apply 'under special circumstances'ie your back problem as mine did for recurring prolapses.I also had higher bmi.
