Hi Kerry, Sorry, only just seen this thread.

I assume you have done the multi-discipline appointment and seen the dietician and trick cyclist? The nest app is usually with the surgeon and he will probably give you an op date. Assuming of course they don't want you to have further tests like sleep apnoea etc.

Good luck,
John xx

wd on your weight loss Glen...wow 5 stone in 9 weeks - fab x x

All the best - MeJulie x x

I've got my 3rd appointment on January 29th, although I have been there today to see the cardiologist.

I've already had my sleep tests for apnoea, so hopefully things are advancing.

One good thing came from today - I've lost 2kgs since my last visit. Considering I thought that I'd put a stack of weight on over Christmas, it's a good result. xx

thanks glen and tiaras,
a big thankyou goes out to two special people who made me aware of charing cross.
ive had the first app the seminar etc,
second app with dietician,shrink,doctor,
sleep apnea test,
extra ecg and app with heart specialist,
so have my fingers crossed i will now get to the surgeon stage,
i cant wait to be told a yes or no the suspence is gut renching.
the staff at charing cross are lovely and so helpful (creep creep).
its positive that someone is giving me a chance as my pct wont.
only down side it takes me six hour journey to get there which is hard work and long day.

Hi kphorrox

I have just noticed this thread :) Im glad to see you are nearer to reaching your surgery goal than when we saw you last.

I cant help as Im not under Charing cross but by the look of things this year could be your year Xx

i had my 2nd app with charring on a friday and they wanted me to travel back down on the tuesday for a sleep apnea test but due to commitments i was unable to so i got my doctor to refer me to a hospital near me i wanted all in all about 10 days for it so i might be worth trying.

My second and third appointment were combined in one. I had the first info session in July 09, and the second appoint in Oct. On that day, they weighed me, took my blood pressure. The Dr, (Le Roux) went through the questionnaire I had filled in before my first appointment, then checked my feet, nails, eyes, stomach to do a general assessment of my health. As he was doing it he told me what he was checking for but basically it was general health etc.

Then I had my psych assessment when the dr had finished with me. She just asked standard questions for example did I binge eat, or ever make myself sick. Did I have family support etc.

After that, cos the surgeon was in that day, I also met him, which was a bit of a shock as I didn’t have my questions ready for him. He went through the procedure with me etc and dealt with my concerns then asked me to sign the consent form.

Then I got an appointment to see the dietician just before Christmas but because of my date in January and the surgeon wanting me to be on the pre-op for longer than two weeks she posted the diet out to me and we had a chat on the phone.

The next appointment (my third) was my pre-op assessment last week.

I hope this helps.

I had my 2nd appointment was about the same time as yours and ive only just got a date for a consultation with the sleep clinic when I thought I was waiting for the actual study appointment. So I have to wait til march just to get a consult. Meh!

Good luck with your appointments though x

there are many sleep clinics when i went for my appointment it took ten minutes collected a machine and went home.
if you have a contact number phone the clinic and ask them what the appointment will entail and ask them if you have any cancellation app to put you forward.

Thanks. I didnt have to do the sleep test so I guess that fast tracked me a little. I was also lucky to see the surgeon on the day of my second appointment. I never chased up for appointments or anything but I know a few that did and they got their appointments quicker so it might be worth a few calls. Hope you get there soon

Thank you x Im hating the delays caused by the sleep study stuff, but at least im still on the way to surgery.

I hope everything goes well for you x

its better that they take there time and check all these things than to rush and not notice.
lets hope that charing cross brings good things to us all in 2010.
keep me updated on your progress and good luck
