Confused ...tier 3

Hello everyone.

I was hoping someone will be able to help me.

Is the tier 3 part all the stuff you have done to try to lose weight before being refered for bariatric surgery from the gp for example orlistat.

If i have proof of trying to lose weight for 12 months before being refered would i still need to complete a tier 3 programme through the hospital or does that count towards it.

My bmi is 50. I have an underactive thyroid, sarcoidosis and delayed lymphatic drainage. I also have suspe ted systematic sclerosis which needs to be investigated.

Thank you in advance for your response.

Hello!

No, tier three is the process after you've been referred.

Each hospital or care commissioning group have their own criteria for what tier 3 involves and how you can then progress to tier 4 / surgery.

All of your past efforts would support your referral.
