Hi has anyone had their bypass whilst on depo provera contraception?
I've just read on another site that someone started bleeding after bypass after years of no periods on depo.
Anyone have any experience!

Weight loss does interfere with your hormones. Mine didn't ever stop but things did change. Who'd be a woman hey?! x

I've just come off it and changed to the mini pill. Only because I'd been on it so long though x

I've been on it since 1998, my surgery only give to me on the understanding that its my choice to continue against their advice. Bit of a long story but I'm kind of phobic of periods, the thought of them freaks me out!!!
Getting a bit stressed that they might return...
Thanks for input x

I'm no gynea expert but I'm sure I have read on here that bypassers have to switch their contraception post op, from tablets to an alternative.

As your gp knows your history, why not have a chat about your options x

I was on the mini pill & had to change about 6 months post op as i started bleeding irregularly. I tried the implant 1st which didn't work with me (again irregular bleeding) and now trying out depo injections.
Whilst no one has ever confirmed it I'm convinced my issues with the pill were down to the op!

I have been an implant user for over 8 years. No periods etc. initially post op I started bleeding and refreshed my implant as well as going on the pill. I had a two month period which then ended. It's the shock to the system which seemed to trigger it for me.

I have merina coil and after 3 years of practically no bleeding, I had a full on period two weeks post op. I just put it down to having lost some weight, as the first couple of years with the coil I had normal periods and just assumed being over weight affected them.

It's more to do with hormones that are stored as part f your stored fat being released as you lose weight.
