Had diabetes before my bypass 15 months ago, haven't had symptoms since then, but my appetite has increased in the past couple of months, and in the past couple of days i've been weeing a lot and tired,i'm mad at myself that i haven't taken care with my diet, has anyone else had their diabetes recur.

I might be wrong, but I don't think you can be cured of diabetes, it just goes into remission while you are following a proper diet. Sorry to hear that yours sounds as if it is back.

One of my partners is a diabetes specialist GP and had made a study of post bypass diabetes and has seen many recurrences after 1-2 years. On another forum a lady was writing advising that you should continue with your diabetic checks as she suffered a known diabetic complication with eye sight but had failed to continue checks when her diabetes went into remission after her bypass

I was told by one of the obesity team nurses to stop dieting and eat for my pouch (eat when hungry and all that) now my hba1c has gone from good control to bad in six months ....now i'm struggling to get them back under control

the diabetes team are talking about adding another tablet or taking fast acting insulin with my food (i'm taking long acting insulin of a night time at the mo) all of which i was hoping to get rid of post op a year ago and my weightloss has stopped :(

i haven't checked my blood for ages this has made me think about it because i am trying to eat more nowadays so it may come back, i don't think my doctors think i have it any longer as no check organised or anything , but i was wondering if you are eating the wrong things again now your appetite is improved then you can change that again so hopefully you will be ok xx

Hi

I may be wrong and I will be corrected if I am, but although we are often told that bypass will cure out type 2 diabetes, but it is my belief that all it does is change us from medication controlled to diet controlled, so you still have to watch the sugar and carb contents of your small amount of food.

My take on it will concurred or corrected by the more knowledgable forum members soon.
