Did antibiotics make me dump?

Like the title says..

I was given flucloxacillan for one of my wounds, and i took it 5 times. Every time i took it i felt ill for an hour or two after. I felt nauseous, headache, hot, just plain awful.
At the time i never thought it was dumping, but im usually ok with antibiotics.
That had 2.5g sucrose per 5ml.

Now im docs have given me another one, clarythromycin, which has 2.4g sucrose per 5ml, which i havent taken yet.

Do you think it couldve been dumping or that it didnt agree with me?

I have had those and they make me feel awful - I'm pre-op though!

not sure then. Just taken the other ones, and they tastes foul, so i drank coffee quick and now feel a bit sickly, but not like the 1st lot!

I had some pink antibiotic and I was fine with that, can not remember what its called

FedUp, some people are more sensitive to sugar than others. And most people are at their most sensitive in the first few weeks. It could be that they made you dump. Maybe you can call you doc and ask for a sugar-free alternative? Sorry, not much help. Hope you feel better soon and can stop those icky anti-biotics!

God it's an awful word isn't it "dump".....

So sorry you had this experience on top of everything else. Hope you feel better for the medecine and the wounds are ok.

Hiya, I suspect it wasnt dumping but side effects from the antibiotic. Flucloxacillin can make you feel yukky. Non WLS patients often feel nauseous, headachey and even get nasty stomach cramps from it. I've always told my clients to take it with a good quality probiotic to counteract some of the side effects - but I don't know about bypass and probiotics... Maybe someone else will know...?
