I think you are so brave to have gone through it once , but twice you must be a rock. I hope I am you in 3 years time.

It's still early days for me but I dont regret it, came close for a fleeting moment when I felt lousy with nausea that would not pass but it was a matter of seconds, I already feel so much more positive for the up and coming new year more than I have ever been. I have been handed a tool that can change my life for the better and there is no way I can regret that. It has already changed the way I feel about food its not the be all and end all anymore.....I feel I have a special secret and when I think about it it makes me smile...xx

i dont regret getting banded i know it was right for me, but when going to clinic with people i was in hosp with that were bypassed i did doubt id had the right op for a while as their weighloss was so dramtic and im nowhere near having restriction yet but i know in the long run i made the right choice

Not even for one moment have I regreted my WLS. I have wished for it to work faster so I could feel better sooner but never have I thought I wish I hadn't done it. I am still healing but I am very happy to have done it!

not at all. But it isnt easy you have to plan ,plan and plan some more in the early days but it is well worth it.

Hi Liz

After the failed bypass,i know i wasnt going to be beaten, thats why i took the decision to have the balloon inserted, and i have no regrets,i am enjoying the weight loss and i am not so restricted as what type of food i can eat .
The next big decision is what i do in 5 months when the balloon is taken out,but until then i will continue enjoying losing weight.

Hi, this is my first post on any forum, had a gastric band almost three years ago; wouldnt change that am really pleased lost 4 stone over the first 18 months and it has stabalised there; have more to go but this is liveable. I would really love to be able to talk to someone who understands the band as I feel all alone, did have aftercare for a year but never saw a dietician; spoke a couple of times over the phone it was crap to be honest living in Cardiff and being invited to support groups in Birmingham not much good, also in the first year I think because your loosing you dont really see the need for help (thats what I feel happened to me). I have so many questions have never even spoke to anyone about what it feels like (when food is going down) and what can happen (mucus balls??). Would love to speak to someone who has been there and understands. Why have you had two bands??

absoloutly no regrets of WLS not only am i thinner but i'm healthier and happier. i am so pleased i had the bypass and would def not change a thing x

Hi Elle and welcome,

You have certainly come to right place here for support and practical advice. This forum is jammed full of people pre and post-op; banders, ballooners, bypassers. I am sure someone will pick your posting up soon and help you out. Keep talking! :)

i have thought the same thing over my time being banded, when i had to have my band replaced i did ask about being bypassed instead of getting a new band, they refused as they said my bmi was now way to low for a bypass and it would be unhealthy to have a bypass at that point in time. so i had no choice band no2 i got and im quite happy with that, i get my 1st fill in my new band on dec 4th.

What I regret in a funny way, is not having this done sooner. But until this year I had lived in denial that I was happy being a fatty.

But as to having surgery regrets - not on your nelly. This is the biggest present I ever gave myself and although I went through a whole phase of feeling like a failure having to resort to surgery, now at last I can make my weight loss efforts a success - thanks to my doctors and surgeon who have been amazing. I am very grateful to the NHS for giving me this chance.

I have no regrets about the weight loss side or the health benifits I have gained and of course looking a thousand times better than I did, but I have to admit sometimes (and only on a few occasions) when I am eating something really really nice, did I wish that I had not had it done so I could have some more  but it only lasts for a few seconds and then I give myself a mental kick and remind myself that it was that thinking that got my weight up in the first place :D

I would really like to answer this question in a couple of years time and see if I have any regrets then!

I love the fact that Ive had the band. I feel 100% better in myself, healthier and mentally healthier too. After being on anti-depressents for 9 years I am now off of them. I am losing weight and inches and am on top of the world. I have felt a little emotional since the op, but that has been pure overwhelmingness! I'm finding the eating side easy, love making my little meals. I haven't been sick once in 4 weeks since my op, I have only had a few things feel a bit heavy in my tummy but they havent made me feel sick. I am 30 in December 2009 and I want to start my 30's the best that I can be!

I`ve had my band nearly four weeks now and although weight loss has been very slow up to now, I don`t regret having it done at all cos I know when I start with the fills and get the right restriction it`ll start dropping off. Also, I know I didn`t wake up fat one day so I know it`ll take a while to come off and when it does it`ll b gone forever!!!!!!!!

hi, i must admit the day after surgery when i came home i said to my mum "why have i done this??" i had alot of blues that day mainly feeling like "why did i let it get to this??" i now feel that i have made the best choice in the world i can now say im full and with only being a week after surgery i feel full after a brew...i know this will get harder when the swelling goes down but im enjoying the moment of saying to my hubby "god im full" as i very rarely said that.. so no.. no regrets from me (yet) hehe
