Does anyone treat themselves to .........

Oooh now then takeaways are my speciality! Morning sickness and a reluctant husband/chef means they are frequent here at Chez Bell.

Chinese - chicken chow mein tends to be my staple, I ask them to use as little oil as possible and it's never been a problem.
Indian - I started with things like biryani as it's not creamy and tends to have very little fat in it. Now though fat doesn't affect me so i just have a normal curry (generally a very mild one!) and it lasts me 2-3 meals. Also nibble on onion bhaji, sheek kebab etc.
Pizza - don't go there. refined carbs = dump city.

Reading that back it sounds like we live on takeout lol. We don't, honestly, it's probably once or twice a month! At the moment I have to eat high cal high fat so it's good for me :D

Yeah i do! I have the odd chinese chicken curry or the odd box of noodles or sushi! We now have a tool to control our eating and i believe the odd treat will enable us to use it most effectively, otherwise we will begin to hate our new poaches! Embrace the poach and be happy with the smaller amount you will eat :)

I have eaten chinese since my band. I can only manage the smallest amount where as before I would have had the works, Chicken with pineapple, rice, chips and prawn crackers. If I have it now I can only manage about a quarter of the chicken/pineapple with no rice, chips or crackers.Enjoyxx

yes, recently I had a small share of my husbands chinese curry and boiled rice. I only had a saucer size potion. A little of what you fancy can do you good!

Not had a take away since op but then again didnt have take aways before op Only time I had a curry was if I went out with the girls drinking. I do eat curry at work with rice and naan and barji but only a small amount. Enjoy just be careful

very occasionally i have: a small amount of pie and chips, a chicken rogan josh or madras with salad which lasts me 2/3 meals or a chicken chow mein again only a small amount but it satisfies me and my little pouch!!!

hi i have been having a chicken korma (i dont eat the chicken) and rice and salad 1 popudom and onions
i go to the takeaway and ask them to use as little or no extra sugar as posible they think i am diabetic and i dont put them right
i do 2 plates with 2 table spoons of rice and 2 -3 of the korma sauce 2 spoons of salad and half a pop each

if i try to eat the chicken i will be sick so i just settle with sauce i tried abite of mikes onion badji but that also made me feel sick
its a treat on sat night followed by sunday tea if the dogs havent claimed it.
it might be high in cals but like mark says a little bit is ok for you.

i tried the same last week from a tesco take home korma but it made me feel sick but it was abit thick so i will stick to our local curry house from now on when we have a treat

I'm only 8 weeks out and still only managing tiny amounts, but the family have had several takeouts in that time. I've had a bit of my daughters battered fish but thats about as adventurous as Ive been so far!

I cant tolerate much meat yet, but as soon as that improves I will defo be having the occasional takeaway.

Hi Allie,

I don't have the same opp as you and I'm only 3 weeks post opp but I visit a lot of other sites and most people say they go with what they fancy. The good thing is you will probably have 2 spoonfulls and want to stop. Not my opinion but those of other with same op as you.

Hope you enjoy your curry, wish I was joining you, they taste better in Scotland will be there Xmas so hope to have one then.

Take Care and enjoy.
Jeanx

To date i have had :-
shish/ chicken kabab no bread just salad and yogurt sauce
Assortment of curries tend to have the meat and sauce no rice but salad our indian take away do a low fat option where they dont use any ghee.
chinese beef and mushrooms, chicken and pinapplechicken in orange sauce. again dont have rice just the meat and veg.
Mc donalds bacon roll, cheese burger only bottom part of bread didnt finish either.
burritos no wrap just shredded beef and salad.
fish and peas from the chippy all batter removed.
my son has the same as me so we share the sauces and he has the rice.

I've had tiny bits of veg balti, and salad, a slice of garlic bread n cheese but can't stomach rice or thick pizzas:eek:I'm not bothered though as I love the tortilla ones now:p:p

Good to know you are all able to 'indulge' from time to time, like Shell my favs are chow mein and biryani so looks like I choose the right thing anyway not that I have a takeaway much
Gives you a good feeling knowing things post op, several months down the line, will be fairly normal food wise, just weeny amounts

Jay xx
