Terror has turned to a bit of excitement i have been terrified of this and surgery (im a whimp) but today i feel geared up and ready for it lol hopefully i'll be listed today and the wait is still 4 weeks max from this to op coz i now just want it over with and to start to look forward to the future :)

Hope it went ok today. The endoscopy is horrid but by now you should be another step closer and shouldn't have to wait too much longer for s date x

Thanks su2ie

It was horrific didn't help with my chest infection but he eventually did it. Wasn't dr small tho it was a dr mahawar??? i think he seems nice, happy i lost another 5kg so 15kg since 31st july if i thought i could continue this..

He has went ahead and listed me and said 2, 3 no more than 4 weeks for surgery.

Do you think its a case of whoever gets to me on the day will do my surgery? I saw dr small last time and this other one this time.

So next bit is the biggy:eek:

Also he has giving me information on a mini bypass as this could now be the way it will g due to size so will have to google the hell out of it coz there isnt much info on the sheet!

Well done on getting through it!! It is awful isn't it? But, done now!!

Mr mahawar did my surgery, he was lovely. I had seen mr Balapuri in my previous appointment and Mr Schroeder did my endoscopy so all a bit random!! I don't think you're allocated to anyone in particular, it's just pot luck who you get when its your turn. You'll get told who's doing it when you get a date. They all seem great though.

You shouldn't have to wait long for news now. I got my letter just over a week after my endoscopy. So excited for you!!!!

Mini bypass is a good option, as far as I know it avoids the malabsorption issues of a full bypass and has one less 'join' so a better recovery, less risk etc. there a a few people on here that have had it so I'm sure you'll find someone who can tell you more. The mini wasn't an option for me because I had a big hiatus hernia.

I will defiantly be looking into it I think they may decide when there in there. Unfortunately I felt sick, shaky and the lot so don't think I made the most of asking him questions after!! I'm so glad you have told me I'll know when I get date who surgeon is. When I was first referred a few years back Mr Schroeder told me I'd need balloon first due to weight. This time I have not seen him but Mr small and Mahawar said the way I carry it I should be fine so I feel like I'd rather someone does it who I have heard it from and had confidence in especially as my weight is higher now I think if Dr Schroeder sees me he wouldn't do it then why would he when I'm even heavier now?! It's defiantly a roller coaster ride x

It certainly is a rollercoaster, I kept worrying they'd change their mind and say I couldn't have the surgery at all!! And all manner of irrational thoughts. I think it's pretty normal :)

Try not to worry, you're listed now so you're on the final stretch :)

Can't wait to hear when you get news. It'll be here before you know it x

A rollercoaster of emotions is defiantly what it is, i am christmas shopping mad at the minute my other half is pretty useless shopping for gifts lol want it all sorted plus when it gets too much for me thinking about it i clean so house looking pretty good lol they said they will give me as much notice as possible as i need to arrange community nurses to come give my daughter her injections for a few weeks dont think i'll be too steady with her kicking out from her dad! So just waiting for the call/letter!

Just thought I'd let you know i had my bypass 2 weeks ago and my letter said Mr Balapuri but it was Mr Mahawar who did my surgery. It is pretty much pot luck who does it.

I had mine the 28th i wasn't discharged until the Friday until some minor complications.. i wasn't passing water properly so u would have been coming in as i went ☺ how are u doing? It's a struggle on the liquid stage for me! A couple of my wounds have a slight infection/irritation due to my stitches growing outwards rather than just rotting inside too the nurse has put some iodine dressings on to try and calm that down so fingers crossed! I just can't wait for some proper food again!

Can i just ask have u had ur appointment through for ur post op check yet? And did u get ur call from the bariatric nurse specialist a week after? I never got that. It would have been helpful. I'm mega tired too still bring on the b12 injection lol x

I was admitted on the Friday so yes we must've just missed each other.
I'm healing quite well, the incisions are really neat except 1 which is all puckered up!! Thankfully no problems though. It still gets a bit painful when I eat and drink but I'm managing well on purées. I am dying for the time to pass and get back to proper food though!!
I'm not too tired but I do get a bit dizzy at times and I can't stand or walk around too much as it gets quite painful.
No I didn't get my phone call, after care does seem to be lacking I must say but I'd ring them if I needed to and hopefully they'd help! Haven't had my follow up appointment either.

I have got my date . Its this saturday i go in on friday to sunderland. I was pretty calm about it but now im starting to flap lol. I have been with mr jennings since day 1 and he says its him who is doing the op. What should i take in with me? Im not to sure. Also are you on a ward with other people rather than juat plonked in a room? Id much prefere other people there to talk to at times.
The lsd has made me loose lots over the past few days ive lost 10lbs since starting it!
Im just excited to see a skinny me! And im expecting it to be a rollercoster of a ride. People keep telling me im taking the easy way out! Dont think they realise how hard ive worked to get to where i am today. Is there anyone else being admitted to srh on friday? Xx

That's great, not long to wait now!!

I was on a ward with 6 beds in total, 2 others were having a bypass the same day as me and 1 had hers the day before. It was good to be with others going through the same thing.

You can tell your friends it absolutely isn't the easy way out!!! It's probably the hardest thing I've ever done!! It's major surgery and not an easy recovery so if that's their idea of easy.... But yes, the idea of being skinny keeps me going through it :)

I didn't take too much with me, just the usual pyjamas, dressing gown, slippers, toiletries and something to read. There's a thread on here somewhere with ideas though.

Good luck Roshkay for Friday. No one has said its the easy way out to me but I got a feeling one or two maybe thinking it!! The way I see it....my feelings could never be hurt about this as nothing could upset me as much as I have been over the years with my weight and cruel comments, so stuff em!

At first i was in a side ward on my own which i preferred u get good sleep in there buy it was due to lack of beds then someone needed the bed so i got moved to a bay i was devastated! Lol 6 people in a bay and ur not all guaranteed to be in for the same op no one in my bay was. I took my kindle and tablet in with me but got my husband to take them home i didn't use them and didn't miss them i bought the TV and kept my phone with me.
Take thr obvious things PJ's towels toiletries dressing gown slippers any medication and a bank card if u want to buy the TV and to be honest i think that's all I needed and comfy coming home clothes! Take in ur own extra pillow too if ur used to sleeping with 2 as there seems to be a shortage of pillows lol hope this helps xx

Yeah i was just wondering out of curiosity if they had rang you or not. If there was something wrong I would contact them like lol. I've had a few dizzy spells too guess it's all about adjusting. Taking the meds make me feel a bit sickly too especially in the morning i dread having to take them! :-(
I have to say the team of anesthetists were amazing with me they really put me at ease :)
I was shocked by some of the staff on the ward though lol especially on a night I don't know if it's just the way they work but they had 1 nurse and 1 health care assistant running around all night and the other 2 just sat at the nurses station doing nothing even when people were pressing the buzzers they didn't move! One was sat reading the Sunderland Echo all night! Shocking!! X

Im packing my stuff as i type . Im excited but scared . How are people coping after the op? What is the marks like that the surgery leaves behind ?
