do i have to take them coz they make me feel sick can i not just swallow them whole and the can desolve lower down just not in my mouth anti sickness pill which makes me feel sick um nice one lol

Hi Charley
you do need to take these as they stop your new/old stomach from producing too much acid, which could erode the new joints they have made or cause you ulcers in your new pouch. If these make you feel ill, contact you GP and ask if there's an alternative one you can take.

I know they are fowl tasting but it's only the fast tabs for a short time (mine was 3 weeks) then you should be able to take the capsules.

Good luck x

Hope charley doesnt think I am hijacking her thread, but what are fastabs, sound horrible.

They stop your stomach producing too much acid, for the first few weeks straight after the op. As you can't take normal tablets, these are strawberry-tasting tablets that dissolve in the mouth. When you first have them, after being on the milk diet, you think 'mmmmmmmmm yum' but after a couple of weeks they taste horrid. And they are gritty too. But you've got to take them.

I must admit I'm not finding them too bad. The soluble pain killers hurt my new tummy though and taste rank!

i will take them but it dont mean im happy about it lol xx

I know they're pants but better crappy tasting tablets than an ulcer or worse.

I use to always make sure I had a drink of pineapple juice to get rid of the taste of them.

Oh dear I think I am dreading these more than the op, I hate strawberry, fruit tasting things.

Now if they did them in meat pie flavour that would be lush.:D

Hi Charley, mine was first given to me by the nurses about 12 hours post op and they just let it dissolve in a tiny bit of water - about a tablespoon'ish - in one of those really tiny paper pill cups. Maybe its a way for you to try to take them?

Doesn't make it taste any different, just doesn't hang around in your mouth so long

I didn't think we were allowed to have pineapple or grapefruit juice as it's so acidic? I could be wrong though.

I've was fine with pineapple juice & any acid produced was offset by the fast tabs.

I tried orange juice, apple juice etc. But as I had to grind nearly all of my tabs for 3 weeks whilst on the liquid stage (none of my tabs were available in liquid form) the pineapple juice was the only thing I found strong enough to mask some of the taste of the awful meds.
