Gastro nasal tubes

Brunetteandred

Officially a loser
I am dreading this aspect. :(

Did everyone on here have one?

im a bander, but my neice had 1 after bypass, they injected blue water in to it after op direct into tummy to ensure there was no leaks

Nope didn't have one :D

I never had one either it depends on the surgeon...if you know who your having you can ask others who had him do their surgery and they should be able to answer this for you...xx

I had one and, like you was very worried about it but I PROMISE YOU it isn't anywhere near as bad as you THINK its going to be.

I have a strong gag reflex and it didn't effect me at all. Its wierd and unplesant when they take it out but again it isn't as bad as you think its going to be and is over in a few seconds.

I'll be happy to answer any more questions about it - just ask!

I had my op at 3pm and they took it out late morning the next day.

Its a little bag - about the size of a money bag, on the end of about 1 foot of tube before is goes up your nose. You can feel it, but it doesn't hurt and isn't really uncomfortable but you are aware of it. The blue dye comes out your nose and collects in the bag, only something like a teaspoon full or two. You cannot smell or taste the dye. It looks more unpleasant than it is.

I was also really worried about the catheter but that was no problem either.

Both!!!

Lost 8 1/2 stone with LL put half back on then yoyo'd with CD until I'd put 7 1/2 stone back on which is when I approached the GP.
