GP tomorrow

Hi, all
I have an appointment tomorrow morning to discuss WLS with my GP.
Nearly 48 and over 23 stone I have had enough. Been doing a lot of reading round the subject and lurking on your forums.
GP wanted to talk with me re WLS a few years ago but I went off and lost 6 stone on low carb and have put it all back on again. Last straw.
Fingers crossed I don't get too emotional on her.
Hoping this is my first post of many with some inspiring stats of my own.
Regards
Joycie

Welcome... your appointment is the positive step please don't beat yourself up about losing then putting on weight in the past as we have all been in that boat, my specialist explained to me that some of us are polar bears and it is not our fault, when I go to the Drs I write everything down as it is the only time I get tearful maybe that could work for you, I look forward to reading your continuing story as it unfolds and your journey progresses x

Hello and welcome.

I hope your appointment goes well, let us know how you got on xx

Well, nothing will happen quickly I can see!
Arm to fat to get blood pressure, too heavy to get accurate reading on scale.
Going back next week for fasting blood test then later in month to review results with GP. The more risk factors I have the more likely the surgery. As you will all know.
Blood pressure is a bit on the high side, not aware of any diabetes, touch of asthma when at heaviest.
Come home and found old WW weight recordings and obsessive charts from other attempts at weight loss. Looks like they may all come in handy.
Will also take some BP readings for GP on my wrist BP machine.
Would really like to know how long the journey will be from this stage to surgery. Will have to query GP further next time. (Am near Hounslow if anyone on here has any insight from this area.....)
Must figure out how to start diary on here too. Thinking it may be one of those things that I have to wait until I have done more posting for....

Hi Joycie and welcome

I can't remember the actual statistics but Mr Sufi, the chief WLS surgeon at The Whittington in North London, has a report that shows the majority (I think it's something like 80%) of people who lose weight through WW, SW etc put it all back on within 5 years. So definitely don't get cross with yourself about that xx
