This is a silly one! Ive read and been told that after the GB op burping is difficult, but I can burp just the same as before the op! is that a bad thing?

oooh that sounds awful hun, I didnt burp the first week, but im 2 weeks post op now and I suppose I am worried that because I can burp theres something wrong! I also have a lump where my port is, I can feel it very close to the surface :-( wierd!

Don`t worry about the burping hun x

Shows your body is returning to normal....the not being able to burp thingy was only in the short term after surgery x :)

The `lump` where your port is - is also normal, they need to be able to feel it to do the fills. In time it will settle down and your belly will be less swollen and though you will still be able to feel it, it should be less noticeable.

Take care hun x

Love Kat x

I am always burping...must sound like a toad mating frenzy after meals at my house (less pooting though!)

I can burp nomally now, but its not as easy as before.

I had a feel of my port for the first time last night and mine feels very close to the skin...it felt wired feeling something hard under the skin.

Hmmm I don't think I've burped since surgery, come to think of it!! I don't ever feel like I need to.

You'll be OK. Once you start to have your band tightened you'll have difficulty burping. Then after a while your bady gets used to it and you burp again.

When I have about 7mls in band my burping is embarrassing, the air no longer comes up as and when required as it's difficult. Instead it gathers, then when I distend my belly all the air comes up and I do these embarrassing elongated (10 second long!!) man belches - I never did this pre-op. When I have more put in the band, that ability goes because I've less space and instead the air gathers in my belly, especially at night, and now has to come out of my bum in big bursts (FWOABP)! Not great sometimes and can be painful.

Early days yet. Your body will heal and get used to it's new sausage and you'll start your beer-belching again IMHO

I'm glad you posted this as it's answered the question I was about to ask!

I had my surgery on Wednesday and I'm unable to burp, I can feel the wind come up and then must get caught in the band and doesn't go any further! A little painful/uncomfortable, would love to get rid of that wind!

Hi Kelly, I was the same for the first few days after my op, it was agony, i tried everything that people recommended, but I found soluble paracetamol and hot water bottles(front and back) helped ease the pain and shift the wind, I also got some bisodol, but didnt use them much. I hope your feeling much better now, like everyone told me, it will evenually go hun, Good luck xx
