Not me. I am almost 11 months out and better than ever.

Not me!! I'm lucky enough to have had it very easy after my op. I'm only 3 weeks post op but 42lbs down & I feel great. Since day of my op I've not had a migraine, head ache, bloating or water retention which have been the bane of my life for years!!

No regrets from me. I know of 4 people on the forum who have had & still having problems but they've all said they do not regret their bypasses.

It's a reasonable question to ask I think Kelly, it will be really interesting to read how people feel and I was wondering if anyone knew how long it is since the first bypass surgery... I seem to remember bands earlier, but I just wondered if anyone had any good research information regarding post operation statistics of long term success and health and how far these go back, just a little thing that passes through my mind now and again... maybe it's even the USA that led the way... I have googled and found various accounts, but always like to read so I would be grateful for any research articles that any of you favour...

Love and hugs xxx

Well yes, obviously at the moment, but then I'm just recuperating from my op no.2!

Any regrets? Yes that it went wrong, yes, that I couldn't 'do it by myself' and so put all my family and loved ones through so much grief........

.......but in the long run? No, I don't think so.
I can see the weight falling off of me spectacularly since op 2, (haven't been weighed yet but my face is particularly unrecognisable today, my chins are going so fast and my face hasn't yet made its mind up what shape it's going to be, but it definitely isn't round!) and I keep thinking/looking ahead to feeling fit and active and living life to the max.

So ultimately, I'm pretty sure even now I'd do it all again, even given my spectacular 'glitch'!

Well Kelly I'm sure you know I have regreted my bypass. But I don't now and I've never been healthier. The first 6 weeks are an uphill battle but, as everyone said to me, it does get better.

It's been an exceptional time for you Charis and such a rollercoaster... I'm so proud of your positivity and attitude and I'd hope to adopt that thinking too, since it's very much about weighing everything up in it's entirety... very much like life in general... a decision made for many reasons and there are those times when there is the unexpected...

Your day is going to come and you are already on your way...

Loving hugs always xxx

Mona, you are also a shining star... I can see Jacci and others following in your footsteps with positivity!

Charis, you could write a bestselling book in terms of your life and experiences and yet you still have that remarkable resilience and a constitution of positivity... I think it is a tribute to you Charis and all you have had to endure in life generally... keep going forwards... we are always right behind you... just reach out and we'll be holding you Angel!

Well .... seeing as Im only 3 weeks out I dont suppose mine counts lol, but I dont regret it and I already feel better. No Metformin or BP Tablets since the op :D XX

Nadine... when I see your pics... I want to be you!
Tremendous!!!

Jacqui... your chicks want this as much as you and it's a family change in every respect... you'll all be cycling off into the sunset before you know it....

Love you all xxx

HHmmmm I've always been into going to the gym and have in the past tried my hand at being healthy when it comes to eating healthily.

I have had a bad time since my op and really have only felt 'normal' since mid August. I for some unknown reason have developed IBS as a result of surgery but that is manageable most times.

If I'm being honest I think your question is a great one but probably best ask 5 -10 yrs from now when many of us bariatric patients are many years post op ... as then we will see the full implications of what bariatric surgery are.

I guess the idea is losing the weight will make you healthier and give you the impetus to do activities to underpin the healthier lifestyle. So if you ask the question is anyone more unhealthy since your operation it's a fair assumption that you'll get a nigh on resounding "no! to the contrary".

Hahaha... my wild imagination... we can do anything in my thoughts!!!

Hahaha.... xxx

I imagine it's fair to say that with the current WLS trends, we are for sure 'history in the making' in terms of bariatric research... it's going to be a good few years for sure before we have comprehensive and reflective studies... which we will likely be part of...
