alking of cycling...and sorry for hijacking this thread - but I was checking out a place called Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire on t'internet the other day. It looks lush and you can hire bikes and I can't wait to go! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE forests!

I'm going to buy myself a mountain bike after Christmas! Me and hubby are going to go cycling in Dalby Forest! I'm so excited! Last time I cycled was years ago at Centerparcs and i spent most of the time on my bum; but I think that was because the bike was too big.
Now I fnd they make smaller cycles for smaller people, and as i weigh less, I'll be able to get one! :D

The best time for me to answer this is in a little while!!!!!

I would like to point out that it is so important to makesure you have your vitamins and supplements as told to, and I have realised that losing weight has a massive effect on our bodies, and we need to be aware of this and makesure that our follow up care Happens it is so important...

I suppose with all the problems, I have got to be more healthier than I was at 25 stone!

hang on in there Angie. it will come to you too pet. I have to admit I haven't dared take my multivit and iron since op 2. I suppose I really ought to try.

Hi Angie, thinking of you as you go through so much too... I wonder sometimes if there was truth in the saying 'lose weight slowly' but it's hard to do that with a drastic change in eating habits... plus you want it off once you start on this path too...

Look after yourself and likewise Charis, the best is yet to come and I'm a forest person too... I have a brother who lives in the middle of a forest in a remote part of the United States... I love staying with him and used to go regularly before I was ill... to be at one with nature .... I just love it so much....

Loving hugs to all xxx

Would i do it again yes without any hesitation only one thing i would change is to bring my Dad back to this earth for one day just to see the ME that i always told him i wanted to be. Charis you are our hero and here you are still being positive what an angel. Angie my heart goes out to you and i really hope that "little while" comes along very soon x

Health wise I have been worse off since my op, but I know long term I will be healthier. My health has been bad since the op and its not due to the op, just the timings.
Since my bypass I have suffered with mild hypoglycemia and was diagnosed with epilepsy. I had the op to get to a weight where I ovulated to have a baby, for me its mission accomplished. Between my friends from the WLS world I was perfectly healthy before (I know this will have changed the older I got) apart from PCOS. Since the op my PCOS has not got any better...apart from periods my beard and tash grow faster than ever.
I know the epilepsy was nothing related, but the timing was crap as I was feeling a little regretful at the time I was diagnosed.
Its also been a hard pregnancy due to the hypoglycemia and Docs were very worried about me - so much so I was taken in for a few nights and put on medication whilst pregnant. If the meds had not have worked I would be fed by a feeding tube until I gave birth.
Do I regret surgery - No as I am pregnant which was all I ever wanted....am I healther post op...no.
Sal xxxxxxxxxx :D

Good luck Sal and loving hugs always... you always look vibrant, energetic and terrific in real life and look really well...

It will all find a level and hope you are plain sailing from now on... loving hugs as always xxx

I'm coming up for 2.5 years post op soon, and I have developed a couple of post op complications. I have the chronic malabsorption, which means I absorb very little of what I eat. This meant my weight loss was very rapid, but also that it is hard to stop losing. As most people know, to combat this I have to eat a very high fat and high calorie diet, and break all the post op rules such as eating lots of sloppy food, grazing, and drinking with meals. Still, prescription junk food isn't too terrible, and I would rather be this way than struggling to reach target and maintain.

Secondly, like Sally I have reactive hypoglycaemia. This was more of a problem during pregnancy, now its not frequent, I can tell the signs, and its easily reversed with a chocolate bar :D followed by some complex carbs. I was not diabetic pre-op.

Not a complication as such, but a post op problem for me has been the excess skin. I thought I was prepared for it mentally etc, but how it affected me came as a huge shock. I literally hate it. However, I am waiting for news on funding to have it removed.

Healthwise, I was complex pre op and I'm still complex post op. BUT, I have normal kidney function for the first time in nearly 20 years. My SLE, IBS and nephritus have all improved. My fibromyalgia, postural hypotension, psoriasis and arthritus have not. The PH has got worse.

Do I regret it? Do i heck! Its one of the best things I have ever done. I only wish I'd done it sooner.

thanks.. :) gosh the excess skin freaks me out to, if only i could know how bad it ll be xx

I totally and utterley regretted it for around two or three weeks, then I was sorry I had done it until around five weeks and then ever since then I have not looked back and can honestly say that I dont regret it and I would sprint to that operating table to do it all again if I had to.
Steph xx

I'm not long out of surgery, but dont regret it. The first few weeks, i wont lie, were tough. I wanted to eat what i wasnt supposed to and was in tears a few times.
However, now i am more excited about everything. I'm eating normal things now and am so happy! xxxxxxx

i would have my op again in a heartbeat, the only problems i had and still have are not related to my op, although losing weight has helped a lot. im hoping that when ive had the op that ill be able to have hopefully next year, only possible through my bypass, i will be a lot more active, i cant wait.
charis and angie have shown what some ppl have to go through after bypass surgery, but hopefully they are both gonna be fine in the future, both inspirations to us all.
bev i think they did bypasses in the 1980s, i know my dietician said they were over 20 yrs old. he said that thats why they know which supplements are best for us, because of the time theyve had to research them. though i suppose there werent many done then.

I thought I would have tonnes of excess skin. But I don't have that much. And what I do have isn't obvious at all to others. Only my hubby sees it and he said he thought all womens tummies looked like that after having children.

My excess skin isnt too bad either. My tummy is a mess, but legs and arms (the bots that others can see) are fine. x

I have days when I can't eat.
I don't regret my op BUT when someone asks me do I recommended it I have to say do your homework on the op its not the easy way out.
People ask me how much weight I've lost and then tell me they are jealous, Then I tell them how jealous I am when they are tucking into roast beef and yorkshire pudding (my fave pre-op now a no no :sigh: )

yeah wendy, there are definately things that we have to give up, i mean on a normal 'diet' you can calorie count treats or meals into it, with some foods there is no way we can do that if it makes us ill is there, thats something good to point out to these ppl who think we've chosen the 'easy option', and this is for life too. big hugs huni xxx
