SOON SLIM SUE

types with one finger
as you may know both my daughter and i have had surgery (me the sleeve, daughter bypass).
ME; 6 months after my sleeve i contract PMR.
DAUGHTER: 1 week after surgery she gets gout.
Now what sort of luck is that.
i feel that some one more deserving could have had our op's.

You've lost me Sue, why would that mean you are both not deserving of your ops?

Hope this soon clears Sue ... feel better soon Erin xxx

what i mean is we both went into this hopeing to be more fitter and agile and heathly as its turned out she is layed up on the sofa in pain and i am pracitcly paralised every morning, i know this has nothing to do with the surgery but i still feel someone else could have made better use of it.

Awww Sue... hoping for better days ahead... it's still early days and come the warmer weather... I do hope you'll both start to feel better... take care and get well soon both of you!

Love and hugs xxx

its just that every one i talk to seems to blame it on the surgery, and its nothing to do with the surgery but i cant get my point across to them.

Hi sue..
OMGosh!!!
Poor Erin..I hope she is resting up and recovering ok...
Gout Is a tricky one to treat...!!
Please tell Erin I am thinking of her sue...
BTW your luck will..no has to change soon x x

Sue? Remind me again.... Was it not you who posted that your doctor said you wouldn't be alive now if you hadn't had your surgery?

They blame it on the op tell em bollox... It's life, it throws stuff at us just to pee us off..

Chin up girls, we're all with you xx

Hi Sue, I know what you mean about negativity regarding wls surgery... but there are also many advantages... I get to the point of thinking, it really doesn't matter what other people are thinking, it's how you feel... and you have done really well... imagine having to tolerate a lot of extra weight and it's likely ailments or other things would affect you physically plus having the additional weight...

As the spring comes and you can have a feeling of wellbeing and some fresh air, I'm really hoping it will make a huge difference for you both.

Thinking of you both and wishing you well... feel better soon... love and hugs xxx

Sue, since having my bypass I have gone on to develop a spinal problem which has left me unable to walk more than 100 yards, dependent on massive doses of tramadol, and a complete burden to my husband. I am awaiting a date for surgery to hopefully resolve it. Also, my fibromyalgia has worsened since surgery and I am having more flare ups. I had to give up work last June and cannot forsee when I will be fit to work again. I've had a few people question whether the bypass has contributed to this.

By your logic, I also should not deserve to have had my surgery, as I am in a similar position to yourself and your daughter. My surgery was supposed to ease my pre-existing chronic health problems and disabilities, in reality I am now at my worst.

However, I disagree. If I were still 21stone, my spinal problem would be much more severe, the surgery to fix it would be far far riskier, my recovery would be slower, and my husband would be unable to help me as he does now. He helps me stand up, supports me upstairs, supports me in and out of the bath etc. He couldn't do that if I were at my pre-op weight.

Equally, I am sure your health problems would be affected by your pre-op weight, and you would be facing more challenges. Being ill, disabled or developing health problems does not make you any less deserving than the next person, in many cases it makes you more so.

Big hugs,

Shel x

Suck it up Sue and tell em to go away politely, just a blip on your journeys.Imagine how much worse Erins gout would be in 6 months without wls.

Hope you and Erin feel better soon Sue, take no notice of small minded people. We know what a Godsend the surgery is and who cares what they think :D XX

Ugh what bad luck. Trust me if you both hadnt had the surgery the effects of these things would be a lot worse, of course you were deserving of the op, they wouldnt have operated if you werent. It must be hard to hear peope say these stupid things. Try not to take it to heart they are wrong and you know it xx

i know im gonna kick myself when i find out what it is, but whats pmr, im going mad here trying to work it out, lol.
by the way sue and erin, hope you both feel better soon, and the fact that your both losing weight, will aid your recovery. hugs xxxx

Hope you are both feeling better today... sending love and thoughts xxx

I'm with Dawny, what is PMR? Sue, perhaps you and your daughter got your ops so that you would be more able to cope with the problems you are experiencing now. You were both fortunate to get the funding, unless you bribed someone and didn't tell us? At least you won't be able to comfort eat your way through this (it's what I would have done pre- bypass). We never know what the future has instore for us. All we can do is count our blessings and take each day as it comes. Hope you both feel better soon.

love and hugs

thank all for your positive posts. I'm not feeling so down today.
PMR is Polly myalga rheumatic, which is inflammation of the large muscles, as long as you keep moving your OK because the blood is pumping into the muscles (still painfully but OK) you can only sit for about 1 hour or so before you start seizing up, after a night in bed I'm practically unable to move at all. it can sometimes be confused with Parkinson's. the treatment is high dose steroids "the ones that make you hungry and retain water and get a moon face" Christmas time they reduced my steroids and it came back again so I'm back on the high dose again. i have kept a close eye on my weight i go between 12st and 12st 5lbs i use the milk diet a lot because it's quick to knock the pounds off.
it all sparked off with a visit from my "size 14 scrawny little sister", she went off on one telling me that after what happened to me i thought it would be a good idea to put my daughter through same thing, and what an uncaring mother i have turned out to be. in the end my hubby gave her a mouthful and told her to leave and never come back.

Clearly she was talking out of her a**e. Well done hubby for standing up for you. I think you really have made the most of your surgery Sue. Most people faced with steroids put on weight and with our common propensity to comfort eat you've done amazingly well to keep your weight off.
I'm having a quick blast on the milk diet (started today) whilstI decide which diet to do while I wait for surgery. Am weeing alot! tee hee
Also, very sorry to hear about your pain and hope both you and Erin feel some improvement soon.
