Leaking like the Titanic..

Scooter, well if there is anyone that deserves the happiness of what life will bring in your new you....it's you! You're truly amazing & I hope n pray that it's all over for you real soon. You've been to hell n back & I hope you sue them big time! No one Gould have been hanging around like that, just dreadful, I just hope you feel it's onwards n upwards from here in. Good luck with the rest of your journey. You deserve it more than anyone! Take care & keep us informed. X

my dear friends, thank you for all your kind words. Its not been a walk in the park, but I just feel more appreciative for everything I have - life, friends, family, and am feeling better and stronger every day.

I went to hospital yesterday and they have allowed me to start drinking !! woohoo!! Its limited to just water, squash and watered down fruit juice for now, but I feel like I won the lottery and am managing to keep it all down. Like alllll my christmases come at once.

Back again next week, waiting for appointment to be confirmed by secretary and hopefuly will increase the range :) after 4 months of drinking nothing Im delighted, well thats an understatement :) nice to take fluids normally and reeduce the belly rumbling.

Hospital apparently provides this surgery and is partners with QE, my case is being referred to their surgeons too who will decide if i need any further surgery. Im praying I dont as the leak is so tiny and the leak tract itself now only 5mm long. Seems pointless now to open me up, pull the stomach seams apart, glue and clip doesnt it?? They reckon in 7-14 days it might be sealed off. Rather evaluate it then.

Even though drinking, still have NJ tube for protein feed over night, and have been on my first night out with the girlies (fantastic friends made in hospital) and enjoyed a nice glass of sugarfree Ribena with ice.. delightfull! I find that the other squashes i had pre-op and before I was readmitted I cant tolerate anymore, just the Ribena works at the moment, but will reassess the others again at a later date.

I hope so :) Ive resorted to trying to drink with a straw as the feed tube gets in the way, but then I get hiccups with a straw. suggestions anyone??

Hi guys :) had foilow appointment today and we've now introduced warm drinks such as fruit and black tea and coffee into diet for next 7 days. Specialists at the Queen Elizabeth agree I Don't need more surgery at this stage.

Have been advised that next thur will start me on puree food like runny mash etc.. And soup. Will also start to ween me off feed thru nj tube and look to remove it in 2 weeks time woohoo! Weighed today, lost 3kg since last week.

no straws as you inhale air hun!
Great to hear you're turning a corner x

Scooter that is wonderful news am pleased you have some better news and now have light at the end of a much shorter tunnell xx

Jo, Ive been taking the fluid up the straw, holding it in my mouth then awkwardly trying to expell the air to avoid swallowing it, but its bloomin awkward!

Funny you should say that Yvessa, moms got me one today lol problem Im having is the NJ tube. Ive tried positioning it differntly today but its now rubbing my nostril and making it sore.. certainly sent to try me!

Cheers Chrisa :) Still keeping everything crossed, eyes, ears fingers, toes anything that can be basically :) Taking it easy, one step at a time as I dont want to overdo it. I managed to eat half a small pot of jelly earlier still stuffed..

Thats such a break through for you though after such a long spell of not being allowed anything, you must be feeling more content in yourself knowing that things are finally coming together, wonderful; news xx

So glad to hear things are improving for you , I bet the first thing you eat will taste like heaven xx

Well done Scooter, sounds like a breakthrough at last!
Em xxxx

That jelly couldnt have tasted any nicer if it had been made and served at the Ritz :) looking forward to the other flavours lurking in the fridge :) and the thought of real food.. I know its only jelly but it been nice today to have a few hours without Sheila (my sleeve) gurgling non stop like dodgy central heating

Hi Scooter just read your story and omg my jaw went further than the floor I do know Mr Khan met him in the 80's and yes will never in my life forget his first words to me which was "you know you could die on the table dont you" seems to be his manner but I actually did not take it the wrong way. wish I had seen this thread earlier would have advised the solicitors letter to demand that you only be seen my the top man in charge from that moment onwards and demanding that all and any decisions were put in writing to your solicitors. On the endoscopy side pfft they could have sent you into any one of the private hospitals where they all perform their ops privately oh wait that would mean they would have had to pay for that themselves lol. On a plus side once i got to page 11 of this thread great to see things are finally coming together (forgive the pun) and I wish you all the very best for the future am sure when its all healed and your feeding well you will look back and although the treatment was not the best by any means will have no regrets that you stuck with it and carried on. All the very best

So glad to hear things are still moving in the right direction Scooter. Keeping everything crossed that you are eating your purée soon. You certainly deserve it :) x

I'm so pleased things are beginning to look up for you after the terrible time you have had. I hope the second part of the year makes up for the first part! I love your signature!
