wowsers, will i wasnt expecting what happened today, a very rude nurse tellin me to get my trouser down so she could rub swabs around my crotch,,, not exactly the nicest feelin in the world, i cringed through it the whole time..

omg they should have given you the swabs to do it yourself and saved you the embarrasment. During my many hospital stays they always give you the swabs to do yourself so that is pretty weird???

i know, i was so embarrassed. n the nurse was horrid, not a smile or anything, quite rude and abrupt. u expect abit of empathy especially at such a personal time! i was stood in the ecg room with two nuses for 5 minutes before they even acknowledged me.

Sometimes you have to wonder if they should consider a different career, most nurses are really nice but when they have been working a long shift you can so tell they just dont want to be there!

I wish!! Just at the beginning, had my seminar now I have to lose between 5-10kg before the 4th June to be put on the list. I am thinking about doing the fasting diet where you fast for 2 days and eat normal for 5?? I hate weight watchers & slimming world it never seems to work for me. How did you manage to lose the weight for the op??

It's not bad lol. There's just a certain technique they have to use. It doesn't hurt or anything

Hi pollybree I was lucky my gp referred me to the gym, they were great and not judgemental at all. I found that this helped loads with weight loss even though I had tried swimming was not managing to lose much with that.

I did my own at two hospitals (NHS)
But the nurse did it at another hospital (private)
I think it depends on the hospital

I also have had to do a nasal swab the same time as a groin swab
So take some tissues with you cos it feels weird LOL

I also did my own at pre op and then you have another while in hospital and I did that too.

lol i had the nasal swab too as well as arm pits and groin. they never ever at any point asked me to lose any weight, which i did think was strange but i guess im sitting on the boder line for the minimum b.m.i requirement they said. and if u fast for two days ur body will just grab hold and keep the food as fat in the next 5 days hun, coz it goes into survival mode. i liked slimming world, managed to drop 4 stone with them but as soon as i stopped goin to the groups it piled bak on with avengence.

Sunderland let you do your own in the toilet. They do the mouth and nose one but you do your own groin swab.
