New and just been accepted for Gastric surgery

Hiya

I am new on here, just been to doctors and been accepted for gastric surgery in Salford, Manchester. How long are you in hospital. After you have had the letter how long will it be till i have it done, do i go for a consultation first.

Any advice or help be good am nervous but happy x

Hi and welcome aboard . . . each PCT is different so you would be best waiting for a detailed response from someone who has had surgery at Salford.

The guidelines are 18 weeks form consultation but from some of the stories on her this can be a s long as 3 years (!) Personally I was very lucky and had everything done and dusted so to speak within the 18 weeks. xx

i was under charring cross i am afraid mine was 3 yeras but there were a few probs along the way i wish you luck with your journey.
when you visit the hospital for the first time you will get a better idea of time, it also depends if you have your funding in place if all the appointments go to plan at charring you see the specialists, and the the dietician before they consider you. these alone took 4 months to go through x
i honestly thought my time would never come but i can honestly say the wait was worth it x

4months? I must be quite lucky then! I was referred in dec to charing cross, had group meeting in jan, psych and doc appt in feb and was told last wk that I'm officially on the waiting list (2/3mths). All went very quick!

hi

i went to the doctor in may 2010 and asked about gastric band she referred once she had all upto date weight, bp and pulse which was done on the 2nd june 10, then i got a letter from the pct date 25th june saying i had the funding and in july i got my letter for my first appointment to see the consultant which was on 19th august then, i got another letter saying i had my pre-op 18th october, and then i had my op on the 10th november

i hope this helps

i had my op done at the heartlands in birmingham
