NHS overload

Saw the end of a feature on the news last nite which basically was saying with the country's obesity crisis, the NHS is overloaded with people waiting for WLS. Anyone else see this and can enlighten me on what the whole story said? Thanks. Julie

My husband saw it and then told me the basics - 2,400 wls were performed last year in England on NHS. This is up 40%. Wales and Northern Ireland had 0 wls performed last year.

Living in Wales I am outraged about this ( and England is obviously hard enough to get funding), I knew it was bad but I thought they'd done a couple on the NHS in Wales.

thats shocking stats, wls is becoming so much in demand there will be a certain set amount of people per year they can only finanicially afford to do, it looks like wales and n.ireland dont see obesity as a priority, which isnt good news for people that cant afford to go private. when i was 1st banded 4 years ago they only did 12 bands a year in my area, i was very lucky to be one of the chosen ones, so the numbers thats being done now has considerably improved from back then.

Sorry, it was 2,700 ops in England and 0 in NI and Wales, Lv Jenni
