North Tees seminar appointment

hi everyone.

completlly new to the forum so please forgive me if I'm asking the same old questions.

I have gone through the specialist weight management service at thornaby and have now been referred to Mr Gopinath for surgery after meeting the weight loss targets.

my surgery is not just for weight loss but I also have barretts oesophagus of which I am under the care of Mr Gopinath for already.

can anyone tell me how quickly the operation comes around after being referred from the weight management service? I am desperate for the operation ASAP as my symptoms with the barretts are ruining my life.

for info I have a group seminar appointment on 11th October.

Once I'd finished the weight management programme in Feb I waited until May to see the surgeon and my op in next week (12th) so around 8 months. The waiting is frustrating but these surgeons are super busy. You might get seen quicker due to the Barretts but it could be the average wait too unfortunately....

thanks very much for your reply. when I spoke to the GP as part of the SWMS they said that north tees generally turn it round quite quickly and could expect something before Christmas where as on this thread the general feeling is more 6+ months.

you may be right regarding the barretts so I will keep my fingers crossed for that one. all in all I have been in this programme for nearly 2 years due to working out of the country for a while and having to restart the cycle!

massive good luck for the operation I am sure it will be great and its onwards and upwards from there!

Hi I'm with Mr Gopinath at North Tees, I had my seminar at the beginning of April and my surgery date is 27th nov, I didn't go through the weight management program and I know people who did and were at the same seminar as me have already had there surgery.

thanks Annie, I have had my consulant appointment this week, I need an endoscopy and everything. he has listed me for surgery and believe the date will be around feb or march. I have my liver reducing seminar on the 14th Nov. Best of luck with your surgery I'm sure it will be great. I have dealt with Mr gopinath for nearly 4 years and he is great!
