November 2013 Surgeries

Oh Nicola. This is just awful for you. I hope you find some energy to stamp your feet until you get results. A stricture is serious yet simple to correct. It should have been sorted days ago. No fair. Thinking of you x

In overnight. Nhs don't know what to do and provider not interested :(

You or a relative really need to Stamp your feet. Let them know you are documenting everything and everyone and that at minimum you need a gastroscopy to view what is going on. If it is a stricture it need to be repeatedly stretched which can be done by a bariatric surgeon or a gastroenterologist Do someone there can do it! So sorry your having this experience Nicola. X

Hi Nicola, that is really bad. Can you discharge yourself from your local hospital and go to a Nhs hospital where there is a bariatric unit on site ie Chichester, at least then they can consult with the bariatric team. I hope you get sorted really soon. Thinking of you xx

Thats really bad the way they have treated you, I hope you get something done and soon.

I looked at this hospital online and it states under 'services' Upper GI etc. They therefore should have specialists that can help you.

Chichester is quite far but if you're not getting anywhere at Addensbrook then they will help if you turn up at A&E!

Streamline won't help as I'm past 30 days.

Addenbrookes better now. Having barium drink on Monday then probable endoscopy and I'm on constant drip.

So hungry even though I feel sick!

Thanks for all good wishes and advice xx

Sorry I thought you were down South! It is a bit far from Cambridge! Glad they are doing something for you now, I hope you get better very soon xx

Follow up care is nurse and dietitian stuff only. No complications follow up. Small print!

Really?!!! I better get my paperwork out and check everything, I thought we were covered for 2 years, no matter what!!

Hope you get it sorted ASAP xxx

Yes your right Nicola, complication within 30 day will be treated, general follow up from surgeon, dietician and nurse for two years. However they are professionally bound to communicate with the gastro team you are under now! It sounds like the ball is rolling now if not very slowly. At least your being properly hydrated now. Your getting there, keep your chin up they will sort this. (Just not as quickly as you deserve) x

at least they are giving you fluids thats a start remember we are all here for you if you need us big hugs x

Just find a great app called fatsecret it gives you nutritional food values, your own RDI and you can scan foods such as sauces or anything with a bar code. You can then change the amounts used. Great to get an idea of your intake. You can also add daily activity and logs it all. I like it take a look! X
