On my journey to being sleeved

Hi all,

Am new(ish) to WLS but have been on Minimins for years, and have recently had my funding approval for gastric sleeving.

I'll be having it done at University College Hospital Warwick (Old Cov and Warwick hospital) at some point - as yet I've got no idea as to dates, so I thought I'd just pop in and say hello.

Hope you've had a great weekend

Hi and welcome. How exciting to have your funding through. Any idea when you'll get your op?

Hi, No idea as yet, but there was a bit of a muck up with the hospital sending off the forms to the PCT. The form/letter/what have you should have been sent off in April and I was advised that the decision should have been made in about 6 weeks from that point. After 17 weeks of phone calls i finally found out that they hadn't sent it! Cue mini meltdown, but I have the letter saying I'm approved and so now I can get on the phone and badger them

Good luck with it,

Thank you :) I will be posting regarding updates...Me and my OH are doing slimming world for now so I can get into the mindset of eating healthily and so I can start making my way to the losers bench

Well done on getting your funding, I hope the wait for the operations isn't too long.

I've had my sleeve just over 6 months now and could never have lost a single stone with out it.

Congrats on getting your funding for a sleeve, thats what i've had, but dont tell anyone on FB!! ;);)

Hi all,

Well.....news (of sorts). I went to my mums at the weekend and had 2 phone calls from my consultant's secretary regarding date for surgery

Started to panic a bit as it suddenly became very real, so I rang this morning and she said they were going to offer me a date of 20/10/12 but they are now not running a list.

However since I have been on the waiting list for 26 weeks now she said that I would be considered for the next list they run. UHCW are a bit cagey about when they run lists (maybe they aren't but I would have thought they at least had some idea when they would run a list), and Dawn (Mr Menon's secretary) said they struggle to fit bariatric patients in?

Can't quite get my head around that  apart from the obvious issue like theatre slots and bed availability I kinda thought there would be a regular slot for this.

Now onto important matters...what does a girl need to pack in her hospital bag! :D

Aww thanks hon!

I've spent a very productive afternoon planning my hospital bag and looking at pre-op diets...

The nerves are kicking in now - I decided that I would write a couple of letters in case "anything" happens, but I started one and then got all choked and thought "oooh not a good idea"! I'm just being stoopid.

If it will make you feel better by all means go for it, it's not stupid at all. I've done it, wrote something for my husband just in case but thankfully didn't need it haha. He still can't read it, he gets all emotional, soppy sod :p xxx
