Poo

quetiapina

Bumps along somehow
Hi everyone, not wishing to go into too much detail, has anyone else not been for a poo after op? I haven't been since the beginning of the milk diet. I haven't got tummy ache or anything - should I just wait and let nature take it's course or should I take some senna?

Im am still constipated 12 weeks after op. And when you go you will feel like you are pooing a house brick, get something now dont wait to long before you get it moving

Hi there,

Reducing food intake often causes this problem. Either mention it to your doctor and see if he can prescribe something or try senna or similar. Don't let this go on for too long.

If you still cannot go after 7 days...definitely see the doctor.

extreme diet change can cause this problem, also very little food is going thro so there wont be much poo to pass out, pain relief such as codiene can also make this problem worse, ask the gp for something to help you along.

Also dehydration shows up this way are you still having PLENTY of water?

Hi, i was on the Atkins diet for a while and suffered with constipation. i was told to drink lots of orange juice and that did the job. To stop this happening again i was told to take Psyllium Husk morning noon and night. They are in capsull form and was fine after, i got them from Zipvit.com.

Im glad you have said that because im passing green/yellow jelly at the rate of knots at the moment and im only 5 days post bypass. Does this go with time or will I always be like this do you think?

i was like that its the blue dye they use to check the joins. once you start on yr iron tabs it will turn black unless you take orange juice with it and then it goes back to being slightly brown.
what a subject

Jayne, have you passed any black tarry stuff? Ana told me and
another bariatric patient about it and I am glad she did.

It's blood from the op.

Yes i passed that on Wed morning i guessed what that was but this is like green water with jelly in it and the pains before I go are awful.
I cant stop to wait and see if its wind its too late then :(

Thanks for that did you get the terrible cramps and the temperature with it?

I didn't get awful cramps when I passed mine. It was passed over a period of six evacuations and then all gone. I did have a sense of emergency though and needed to go! I almost didn't make it out of bed on one occasion; I woke up feeling 'O gawd!'

increase water intake, use prunes juice and as its been so long definately take something mild for it. The yellow eventually solidifies and all returns to normal, maybe not everyday but every 2-3 days is normal for the amounts we are eating.

Thanks for that advice, Ive not been now since last night so thats good. Im sure its a bowel infection but it seems to be clearing now, no temp just bad cramps but thats to be expected.
Many thanks for putting my mind at rest, as always the advice on here is brilliant and puts your mind at rest.
