Post op itchy scalp

Has anyone else had an itchy scalp after bypass surgeryI deffo haven't got nits, or used any other shampoos than I usually do, but my hair has been falling out a lot more again
I'm wondering if it's hair growing back that makes me feel like it's itchy

oh gosh Candie, Im so glad you have asked this.

Mine has been itching non stop, and I havent got nits either, although my kids did both have nits a few months ago, and Ive been convinced that I had them but have used all the nit treatments, and constantly combing my hair with the nit comb and not found a single thing.

My head is really itchy, and my hair is still coming out too. Would love to know if anyone has an explanation.

HI,

Can I ask if your scalps are flaky or if you have patches of red sores as well is it itching. Psoriasis & Eczma are both caused by stress and body changes.

Psoriasis can also cause hair loss which isnt permanent. It may not be and may just be down to hormone changes and the op (it does warn about hairloss on some sites)

Try using loreal's anti itch shampoo (dark blue bottle with either green/orange band) or T-Gel or Nizorel. They also treat dandruff/ dry flaky scalps.

Oh Sam i'm glad you feel the same way, lol we can itch together
Paula no I haven't got any red or dry patches, but have been losing a lot of hair since about 3 months post op.I will try that shampoo thanks xx

An update on the itchy head syndrome.Went to hairdressers last Thurs, and she had a good look n couldn't even see any dry skin on my head, let alone anything else, but she rekons as do I that it's the iron tabs causing the itching, and has adviced me to use head n shoulders to soothe it

Im three months post op and my hair has been coming out for a good month now, luckily I have thick hair so its not really noticable to the outside world. My head has started to become sore lately and very dry and I have those very red sore patches. Im taking it that the cheap shampoo that I have been using isnt helping it so I have gotten some really nice shampoo and if that doesnt help it then I will move on to the move specialised shampoos. I have always had a very sensitive scalp but the sores I have had recently are really annoying me.
Im taking it as part and parcel of the journey Im on but I WILL do more about it if my better shampoo and conditioner doesnt work.

My doc gave me a Betnovate scalp lotion,it really did the trick for me.Maz x

YES! Mine is sooo bloody itchy and has stopped falling out recently. Its defo regrowth! And its annoying lol as I itch like I have nits
