Private Patient - how long?

What is the process for surgery privately, do you have to wait a certain amount of time or is it pretty much you've chosen, you're assessed, you're in?

I can only speak from my experience, I rang the hospital group on the Monday, had my consultation on the Saturday, and was given a list of available dates and times on the Monday, I was informed that if I booked a date that was in that month (I guess a last min slot) I would get £100 discount, I was banded 5 weeks after my consultation, however this could of been sooner as I didn't need to do the pre op diet. I needed to wait the 5 weeks as I had annual leave booked and didn't wanna go sick. So for me pretty much no waiting..

I was offered surgery 8 days after meeting the surgeon :)

The hospital group for me, fills in Liverpool, and went to dalton park in Birmingham for the surgery.. All been great for me.

I've been looking at them, I'm worried though because from what I have read I'd probably be better with a sleeve but at an extra 5k its just not even something I could consider and I'm worried they'd not fit the band because they think I should have the sleeve it that makes sense.

Yer that makes complete sense, and if u don't think u can work with the band 99% then I don't advise u to spent the money. I do however think it is worth a meeting with them to see, I can't see them refusing you a band just because they recommend a sleeve.. It may sound bad, but it is very true, they want your money, they r a business after all.. They will usually give you what u ask for.

I too went with THG in February and again all good. I first saw them at Christmas and could choose plenty of dates but I had a weeks annual leave booked the first week in Feb so decided to wait till then.
You go to Dolan Park in Birmingham for the surgery, then I go to Sheffield for my fills. My aftercare has been excellent and I am very pleased I chose them. Good luck

I had been doing the equivalent of a pre-op for some time prior to consultation, so was deemed ready as soon as I was willing to sign a form.

From consultation to surgery, was 1 week.

I was banded at Dolan Park in January by Mr Super, a fab surgeon, he works in the national health too, if you google him you will find he is very well known in the industry! he has done many documentaries on weight loss surgery.

I'm having a sleeve at kings in London. It's costing £7500. It's no frills, consultation, book the surgery, no liver shrinking diet. I've had a friend who went with him, and spoken to others who had their surgery there. So far I'm extremely happy. (Mr Patel is the surgeon - leading bariatric surgeon and liver specialist, hence no liver shrinking diet)

I was about 6 weeks, but could have got in sooner, just planned it around half term.

Thank you for all you replies, can I ask a question, will a band only not work if I make it? Like by over eating?
I do think a band would work but I would worry about it not working!
Can I ask how you arranged your sleeve at the kings?

I had my consultation with The Hospital Group in Dolan Park, Birmingham, last Saturday, they told me that the first appointment they had free was June 18th (so 1 month wait)

They were brilliant and I cannot recommend them enough.
