Thank you

Hello sweetheart!! How are you today? Still hurting? I hope someone gives you some good advice soon. Take care. Marion xxx

Yes M - hoping if i get into a shallow bath it may ease some of my aches and pains xx

Lesley are you still in pain? I think you should be alright to have a soak now as long as you have no problems with your scar and you don't have the water too hot.

Take care love.

Most surgeons suggest two weeks, so I guess you are past that, but if at all worried, call the hospital and ask their advice :)

Hi Topsy

Hi Lesley

I hope you are feeling better after your bath.

May I ask you ladies about this in general.......How do you keep clean if you can't bathe?...Can you have a shower at least?...and how soon after the surgery?

Take care Lesley

(((hugs)))

showering is fine after surgery but they recommend 6 weeks for a bath because the skin is still knitting together and soaking them in a bath softens them and theres a risk of them getting infected in the bath water, the reason is the same also for swimming as its soaking the wounds in water and a public pool has lots of germs with the sheer amount of people that use it.

They had you up and showering the morning after the op at my hospital. Clean running water over the wound, then at dry with a clean, dry towel. I continued this regime at home, washing daily until the scar had healed fully. That was about two-three weeks for me. I had open procedure.

Well i had a bath in about three inches of water - kept scar dry have three little scabs still on (they are really tiny). It was nice just to sit in some water and scrub my arms and legs, just had plain water xx

That sounds good to me lol. I'd love a bath but I have'nt got one. My bathroom was changed into a shower (wet) room when I had my 1st stroke so its going to cost me a fortune to change it back. Glad you enjoyed it though Lesley.

Trying to stay clean has been a nightmare for me. In the hospital it wasn't so bad because they let you shower your wound and then brought a dressing to the bathroom, popped it on until they could put the proper dressings on whilst on the bed.

Of course at home I couldn't do that because the district nurses just hadn't got the time to wait around whilst I showered, and didn't like the thought of you getting your dressings wet. Have to admit a couple of times I got so fed up with it I did soak in a bath full of clean plain water and then did the dressing myself, but got told off for doing when they found out.

Now I have this machine stuck to my stomach I've been told no showering or bathing whatsoever as I can't afford to get these dressings or the machine wet, so I'm afraid I'm gonna have to just top and tail and the rest will have to stink for a week or two...lol
