Sheffield Thornbury Rooms......

Hey everyone,

Got my pack through the post today for my surgery at Sheffield Thornbury.

But it doesn't give you information about where I will be staying whilst I'm there. I know Ill be on the HDU for a few hours after the op, but do you have a private room? And if so, is there a tv / phone you can pay for whilst your there?

I know theres a few people that had their op there, but I'm rubbish at remembering who!!

Hi Hayley

I went to the Thornbury for my op,i was in HDU for 3/4 days as there was complication after my op,but after those few days i went into a private room with my own bathroom and tv,i didnt notice any wards there i think they are all private rooms as it is a private hospital that the NHS rent rooms from.
You will be fine there,the staff are brilliant and really friendly so dont worry.

Oh and i had my mobile phone on all the time in the room and was never questioned about it,but there is a phone in the rooms but i was told it isnt cheap to use.

I went to Thornbury

When you go there you will be shown to a room, this is not the room you will stay in!

After the op, you will spend the night in high dependancy. The morning after I was encouraged to shower, dress and just get a little walk around. After this I was taken to my room.

My room there was nice. You get a TV with a few sky channels on, your own en-suite, electrically adjustable bed and a nice large chair.

I didn't notice a telephone.

To be honest, I spent that much time sleeping and relaxing I hardly watched any TV.

Im going to the Spire. Leeds, I have just rung to ask them if they have internet access as I want to speak to my daughter via laptop. they do and theres no charge apparently but Ill be checking next week when i go for pre op.
The Spire wants a credit card for paying for stuff that are chargeable.! wonder if they mean the mini bar pmsl

Give them a ring and ask them. They should tell you and ask if anything is chargeable

Eeeeee well thank guys. But me being dizzy, I found the info about the phone, tv, private room and en suite. I just whizzed through the paperwork and must have missed it. Whoopsie

One thing that I didnt recieve with the pack was the pre op diet. I don't know whether this will come separate, or from WLSG. I'll send a couple of emails off to them now, because I'm way too shy to call
