SRH Cancelled and Im devasted and furious too

So sorry to hear your news, Lilyscent. I have read a few times of other SRH patients having appointments put back.

I don't understand what can be the root cause of it, other than *bad* time management and poor scheduling on THEIR part?

Is the part of the hospital dealing with you a specialist Bariatric department? Or do they deal with all stomach matters (inc gall bladders, hernias and stomach cancers) -- if the latter I imagine the priority of treating urgent cases, especially cancer would disrupt things .... but if that is the case and SRH *are* dealing with large numbers of bariatric patients, why not set up a large, specialist, dedicated Bariatric Unit?

In most hospitals who do have a dedicated Bariatric Unit, the appointments are more reliable (even if we have to wait 6 months or 12 months for our first appointment once we are on the list and in the system everything moves at a reasonable pace from that point onwards and it's fairly unusual for appointments to be put back, not a *regular* occurrence as it appears to be at SRH).

How annoying for you and all the other SRH patients -- perhaps you could get a petition or campaign together?

Me too, I'm at SRH. I had an appointment for march with the consultant. and have been put back to June. am so fed up. it seems to be taken forever.

That is ridiculous!! I agree with the others about contacting MP's, etc. That's to big of a gap for the usual NHS explanation. Good Luck!!

Hi my appointment was 14th of march and been cancelled till 20th august. i seen the nurse in july. i am furious phoned and they said there was nothing anyone could do

Me too lilyscent, My Appointment for SRH was the 4th of April this year, and they cancelled it to 6th of June. Its proper made me feel like rubbish. and I'm thinking about transfering to Darlington. Just dont no what to do. had Darlington is a long way closer . compared to Sunderland.

can you transfer to what ever hospital you want? x

You can but you will have To start the whole referral process from scratch again

I got told you can transfer, and it would just carry on where you are at. I am gonna give the hospital a ring on Tuesday or wednesday and find out.

I asked Kim the bariatric nurse and she emailed saying you would have to start the process again that was at the beginning of December it may have change since then

I wonder what the wait is like at rake lane? I don't think RVI or QE do it do they?
If it was a faster process I ask to Change to rake lane rather than pre empt continual let downs and cancellations from SRH I don't think my jangley nerves could take it'!
