Take away food

All the advice i was given was not to eat and drink at the same time. This is for 2 reasons:-
a, the fluid can cause the food in yr pouch to swell and cause pain , discomfort or vomiting
b, depending on the type of food eaten if the above doesnt happen the fluid can flush the food out of yr pouch leading to you then feeling hungry quickly.
when i am out for a meal with friends or family i tend to order a fresh OJ or glass of water when we first get there, drink that as fast as i can. then once my meal comes i dont have anything till after a good hr has passed.
I went out for a lite bite with my friend the other day and we had a bottle of wine. Although i had a glass poured i spent my time swirling it around the glass and topping hers up everytime she took a swig. after an hour we ordered coffees and i had one of them.
I really want to get the best from my surgery and remind myself that alchol is empty calories so avoid it at all costs but still enjoy socialising with my friends and family. Its fantastic people watching through sober eyes. lol

ROFL tina your just jealous

I went out to wetherspoon today and shared one of their platters, i took all the breadcrumbs off the mushrooms, and the king prawns, and the skin off the one buffalo wing i had. We sat talking for ages picking at this and i even had a single soft chip. The friend i was with knows about the bypass, so while i was full i just said to him do not let me have any more at which point he decided he had had enough as well lol but admittedly he had almost cleared the plate for me. I resisted the onion rings as they did look greasey.

we then nattered for ages before ordering a Latte for me and a 1/2 pint for him

err tthen i got pampered after getting back by a nice massage..... :8855:he used to be a nurse but is now a supply teeacher for primary schools

I won't be drinking on that night out, but saying that. I'm going to Manchester next week and we're just having a light bite to eat and sharing a bottle of wine....how do you get round the drinking AND eating thing....can you do both together?

Ok this is the way i do it and sorry if this pee's anyone off - eating and drinking out are difficult and therefore to enjoy your night out you sometimes have to cheat a bit, sipping fluid whilst your eating slowly will turn the food in your pouch to slurry and it will empty faster, this means you can fit a bit more in, drink slowly post food will wash the food through allowing you to drink as normal quicker. The fluid going in does not make the food swell, there enough saliva etc doing that already.

This is blatent cheating and not to be done all the time as it leads to bad habits, but on special occassions i've found its worked for me ! use it to your advantage as a tool, and who really cares if you dont lose anything on that day - lifes about living Lisa, you have the rest of your life to lose the weight !

So in real terms your talking about 3oz of protein which equals about 1 chicken breast based on your own calculation !

Nope, sorry, 100g of chicken (breast, roasted) which is just over 3oz, contains only 25g of protein.

thanks everyone, I only want 1 glass of wine, was just trying to work out how best to do it with risking vomitting in the middle of The Living Room in Manchester. I think I'll have a trial this weekend just to be on the safe side. I've been looking forward to next week for ages, I'm going to manchester for lunch and then X-facot concert at MEN arena. I told someone i was gonna throw my knickers on stage and they said - I wouldn't cos they might think the curtain has come down!!!!!!!
